Sorry mate, that makes no sense.

If you'd seen a bloke carrying away a child, on the night of a kidnap, would you think, "Well I'd tell the police but I think it was actually about half an hour later."

The time wouldn't make any difference in reality and the 2 descriptions are identical.

But in fact, I think I may have cracked the case myself!!!!!!!!!!

I've found a photo of the man in the e-fit standing on the stairs of the escape route from the flat.
He's attempted to disguise himself with a pair of glasses but there's no doubt it's him.
I'm just off to phone Crimewatch, I even have his name.

Go to the link below, view the gallery and look at the man after the e-fit photo then tell me I'm wrong!

It looks like Gerry McCann tbh but that would be mental if he's working as a doctor and a Mirror reporter.

I have to say the criticism of the Portuguese, by the British media, is a bit poor and predictable.

You have to think the Portuguese would say, "What's in it for us?"

This latest British investigation has so far cost around £2 million and there are 30 'elite detectives' working on the case.
If the Portuguese were to charge the parents the trial would cost millions and a conviction would result in an instant appeal and retrial.

Charging a 'kidnapper' would cost millions and probably fail ...... there's no DNA or forensic evidence and no credible witnesses.

I can't blame the Portuguese for washing their hands of the affair.

They found discrepancies in the parents stories and evidence in the flat and car. There was an instant outcry from the British media, the public and the McCanns team of lawyers and PR spokesmen.

If I was the Portuguese I'd just think 'stuff this for a lark' ............ although I'm not sure if that's actually a correct legal term.

I have an update for you chaps.
I was out drinking in Wylam with one of the top police dog trainers in the North East on Saturday.
He was adamant that the parents were in no way involved.......
I then showed him that video of the police dog (he'd never seen it) and his jaw dropped.
He basically used jargon I wasn't familiar with to describe the dogs behaviour (ear elevation / breathing patterns etc) and within a few seconds of the end of the vid stared at me and basically said 'dogs don't lie' and with a police published accuracy rate of 95% the courts take dog evidence as fact. He then said he was 100% certain that one of the parents were involved and that Maddie was no longer alive.

I'd never seen the dog video until someone posted it the other other day ........ really sent a chill through me.

I was at Calais ferry port, earlier this year, and a dog team trotted by at quite some speed as there were hundreds of cars, vans and lorries to check.

The dog suddenly screeched to a halt at the side of a lorry. 10 minutes later there were 7 Chinese looking lads, and one lass, tie-wrapped to the chain link fence after being found in the back.

Everyone stood around looking amazed at how the dog, in driving rain and wind, could sniff out stowaways.

A slight typo (now corrected) he said dogs don't lie, or read the paper, or have opinions... they just follow their training indiscriminately.
He also said they are methodical and once trained will not deviate from that training path.

Are you suggesting that the British are actually taking the Portuguese evidence seriously and working with them rather than 'against' them.

Or is this a different kind of 'Hmmmmmm' ..........

Its now officially confirmed the prosecutors have re-opened the case in the last couple of minutes

    http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24655826

Portuguese police have reopened their inquiry into the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann, the public prosecutor's office has said.

Madeleine, from Leicestershire, was three when she disappeared from Praia da Luz in the Algarve in May 2007.

A statement from the office of Portugal's attorney-general said "new elements of evidence" justified the "continuation of the investigation".

The Portuguese authorities shelved their investigation in 2008.

Scotland Yard began a review of the case in May 2011 - codenamed Operation Grange - and opened a formal investigation in July this year.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said the Portuguese decision followed the "discovery of new lines of inquiry as a result of an internal review of the original investigation by the Portuguese Policia Judiciaria".

The Met said the Portuguese investigation would run in parallel with its own operation.

Scotland Yard said Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley and Det Ch Insp Andy Redwood attended a meeting with senior Portuguese officers on 17 October in Lisbon for a briefing on the new lines of enquiry which they say "are separate" to the lines of inquiry being followed by the Met.

At the end of the meeting the group were joined by Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, who were also briefed on the plans to apply to reopen the investigation.

    Thursday 3 May 2007: Timeline

20:30 Kate and Gerry McCann leave their apartment to have dinner at a Tapas bar
21:05 Gerry McCann checks on Madeleine and her siblings
22:00 A man is seen carrying a child wearing pyjamas heading towards the ocean
22:00 Kate McCann raises the alarm that Madeleine has gone missing
    Clickable map and timeline

Madeleine went missing from her family's holiday apartment on 3 May 2007, as her parents Kate and Gerry dined with friends at a nearby tapas bar.

The three-year-old and her brother and sister were left in the apartment at 20:30, with their father checking on them at 21:05.

Mrs McCann raised the alarm at 22:00 when she realised Madeleine was gone.

Since then there has been much speculation about what happened to the youngster.

A Met Police appeal launched on BBC Crimewatch last week prompted 2,400 responses.

Met detectives also released two e-fits of a man seen carrying a child in Praia da Luz at 22:00 on the night Madeleine went missing and it was revealed that they now suspected Madeleine could have been taken later than previously thought - just before her mother returned to the apartment to check on her.

    Madeleine McCann: Timeline
    15 October 2013 Last updated at 13:08
Fresh analysis of the evidence in the case of missing Madeleine McCann has significantly changed the "accepted version of events", British police have said.

A sighting of a man and a child by one of Gerry and Kate McCanns' friends has been discounted, detectives say, and a separate, later sighting of a man carrying a blonde child has now become the focus of the investigation. Police also want to track down two charity collectors and a number of men seen "lurking suspiciously" near the McCanns' apartment block.

Madeleine, of Rothley, Leicestershire, was three when she went missing from her family's holiday apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on 3 May 2007. Explore the timeline below to find out what happened that day.

15:30-17:30 Charity collectors seen in area

    ×
Scotland Yard says detectives are looking into possible links to burglaries and bogus charity collections in the area at the time. They have released two e-fit images of Portuguese men they would like to identify.

There were four separate sightings of charity collectors on the afternoon of 3 May in Praia da Luz. One man approached a property on Rua do Ramalhete, near the Ocean Club, at about 16:00. Another collector called at another apartment on 25 or 26 April.

Police say there was also a four-fold increase in the number of burglaries in the area between January and May 2007 and one possible scenario was that Madeleine had disturbed a burglar.

    20:30 McCanns go for dinner

    ×
The McCanns were on holiday with a group of friends who met for dinner each evening at a Tapas bar on the Ocean Club complex where they were staying.

On the day Madeleine went missing, Mr and Mrs McCann left their apartment at 20:30 and headed to the restaurant. Throughout the evening, adults from the group would leave at regular intervals to check on their children. A member of the group - Matthew Oldfield - left at 21:00, shortly followed by Gerry McCann.

    21:05 Gerry checks on children

    ×
Mr McCann left the retaurant to check on his children at about 21:05. When he reached the apartment, he noticed the bedroom door was open wider than it had been left. On his return to the restaurant, he stopped to chat to a guest.

Matthew Oldfield also checked on the McCanns' apartment at about 21:30. Hearing no noise from the children's bedroom, he assumed all was well and left without seeing Madeleine.

21:15 McCanns' friend sees man and child

    ×
Having left the table to check on her own children, another member of the group, Jane Tanner, saw a man carrying a child close to the McCanns' apartment. This sighting, which had previously been the focus of the investigation, has now been discounted by police. Detectives said the man was almost certainly an innocent British holiday-maker collecting his two-year-old daughter from a nearby creche.

22:00 Irish family sees man and child

    ×
An Irish family returning from a night out saw a man carrying a blonde-haired child, aged about three or four, possibly wearing pyjamas. He was walking down a street towards the beach at about 22:00. The beach is a few minutes' walk from the McCanns' apartment.

Two of the witnesses have helped produce an e-fit of the man they saw. They described him as white, aged in his 30s, of medium build and medium height, with short brown hair.

    22:00 Kate raises alarm

    ×
After friend Matthew Oldfield had checked on the McCanns' children half an hour previously, Kate McCann returned to the apartment at 22:00. It was then that she noticed the children's bedroom window was open, the shutter raised and Madeleine gone.

If, as it seems, this latest development is completely separate to what the British police have been doing, and the Portuguese have uncovered their own new evidence, then this is potentially a very exciting development. This case has been nothing but trouble for the Portuguese police, they surely wouldn't reopen it without something really solid to go on.

*watched that video of the dogs aswell, really harrowing I found it, in an awful way I hope Maddie is dead of an overdose or some such thing, rather than the potential other possibilities. I keep seeing people mention that the dogs have been right in 200 cases, everywhere seems to forget to mention how many times they've been wrong??
