If you won the Euro tonight and had £130M to yourself would you consider buying Leeds Utd for £50M and how much would you put by for players if yes?

No. Not £50m. Much much less. I'd buy the football club but not the other non-football related companies.

I would spend very little. I would reduce prices by 25% immediately, and concentrate on marketing the club to the fans, and get the place full and rocking. The whole strategy would be to use the profits to reinvest in players, but not on a Warnock-style manager. He would see out his contract, and I would bring in a young Spanish manager i nthe mould of Martinez and make sure the whole club, from coaching the kids upwards, was focused on a specific way of playing football

NO CHANCE, THEY WOULDN'T GET A PENNY FROM ME.

Anyone who is stupid enough to put money into a football club, deserves all the bad things that go with it.

I'd want to keep a low profile, so would probably channel my money through someone wiser than myself. I'd hate it not to be able to stand on the Kop for fear of being mobbed by people, whether in a good or bad way.

£40-50m for the club, and a similar investment in the Academy. Let the club generate its own transfer funds from that point onwards. The books need to be able to balance themselves, and long-term planning should trump short-term financial doping.

Then I'd still have a few bob to spend on drinking myself to an early grave.

Yes, I'd definitely spend £50m on Leeds, then another £15m on a transfer kitty to get us promoted. Once into the Prem though, I'd expect the club to be run within its means. Still plenty of cash left for a golden carriage pulled by a team of Swedish models.

Interesting thread. If you won the Euro lottery, say £200 million, would you buy Leeds Utd?

Depends on what I was getting. £30 to £40m for Leeds itself + x amount for TA & ER.

If I won the lottery Elland, I could afford the club, TA, & ER. But I don't think I could afford the Not606 party. The 'Wall lot & the Irish would only drink too much & start singing. That would mean I'd have to compensate the neighbours & pay off the plod. Too much hassle mate. I'll let someone else buy Leeds.

How many clubs in the Prem run within their means, do you think?

Certainly JLA. The 'Wall lot we have on here are't representative of the neandethal that roam the streets of Depthford. They're the nice caring sharing friendly banter-inspired lot who add to the quality of our board with their incisive comments.... most of the time!!

Shaks, what's the about a row? I've heard of the fighting Irish, but even they wouldn't interrupt their Guinness drinking to have a punch up. They might spill some & then a row really would kick off.

Hardly any, seems the more money they receive the deeper in debt they become.

    There's really no excuse

I don't know but if I had to guess I would say about a third. The bottom third. The top half are all millionaire/billionaire playthings.

However, the point being that it if I was the owner, then after the initial cash splurge, I'd want the business to be self-sustaining. You need to be a Russian or Arab crook to simply pour money into a club with no thought about where it was going. A Euromillions win would only go so far.
