Ian Holloway was doomed from the moment he started playing Gabbidon and Delaney at the back. Just like with Blackpool when he found room for Ian Evatt in his back line....brave or foolish. At least at Blackpool they looked good going forward

Dont particularly like the guy, but the fact that he managed promotion with Gabbidon and Delaney in the side, is a huge credit to him

Sad for IH...but it was always going to happen

As for those saying they dont want him back. This is the guy that has got 2 teams into the Prem that should never have been there. Imagine what he could do with our bunch of overpaid superstars...?

Looks like he resigned and the board wanted him to continue, that makes more sense.

The manager who comes in should be one with an eye on next season in the champ.

Edit, they are going for pulis so they seem to have taken my advice!

My local Palace mates were really pissed off with the way he set the team up last season BEFORE they got promoted. They nearly blew the play-offs on the last day of the season when Peterborough were leading them 2-1 late on, that after being top when he took over. It was nailed on that they were waiting for the first chance to turn on him this season, in fact there were rumours before the season started that he was a dead man walking.

Still, the Palace fans will do well to heed the old saying 'Careful what you wish for' as Tony Pulis is the name being mentioned now, God help them...<laugh>

I

I sincerely hope we continue learning from these situations, in hope that if we are promoted, we don't go and do the same thing as before ............... just like Sunderland & Palace who have copied us.
Fair play to Olly, he could have stayed in his corner until he was sacked but chose to leave by mutual consent ( less dollars )

I'd take Pulis before Hughes!
Allow me to reiterate this by saying out of over 80 managers from PL down to Division 2 ( I would also consider Conference & Blue Square Leagues ) ..................... you could give me any of these managers over Hughes and I would feel relieved, honoured, blessed ......... ( yes, I would say two Hail Marys and drink two Bloody Marys ) not to be lumbered with Hughes as manager.
Apart from that, he's one heck of a guy!

Seems to be some gossip about him taking his wife on the team coach on matchdays. Then travelling with his wife in a car separately when told to stop. That does seem a bit odd and hardly conducive to team building does it?

He’s a top bloke is Olly. I met him once in the Wetherspoons in Shepherds Bush when he was manager, and he couldn’t have been any friendlier, or more charming or open. The fact that he was in that sh*thole at all says a lot about his unpretentiousness (and perhaps his tightness!). But aside from being a good bloke to have a pint with down the pub, he also seems to me to have all the attributes to be a good coach.

What about bringing him in til the end of the season as a coach to replace McLaren? Much like Shteve, he looks jaded and like he’s fallen out of love with football. A good spell of coaching at his beloved Hoops could do him the world of good, and it could help us to keep that positive spirit in the camp which McLaren seemed to bring with him.

Just an idea. It could well be madness. Thoughts?

I dont think hes a coach at all. In fact I think hed be awful. Hes a man manager and get players to run through brick walls for him. Same as Warnock and to some extent Redknapp.

McLaren is a proper coach although perhaps less able to get players to die for him.

Pulis distancing himself from the Palace job because of their lowly points total.......you couldn't make it up!

I like Ollie, met him at a pre season game qpr v Hampton about 8-10 years ago, but this palace side would not make top ten in the champs, we are bad and they are awful, he thought arsenal next up, no thanks, shame really but he cant cut it in the top division
