The sanctions for 'striking an opponent' when challenging for the ball are exactly the same as for a tackle. Doing it carelessly is a free kick, recklessly is a yellow and with excessive force is a red. I think the ref wasn't sure he did it on purpose so went for recklessly. Reasonable call.

Merely asking a question but hit a nerve big time.

You were in the tie for five minutes after you got the second on 85 mins. Bayern controlled the tie for the rest of the match.

Arsenal find it easy to play when there is no pressure and nothing to lose: look at the TIE v Milan

I would just like to take this moment to rant about Iain Wright.

Ok we lost last night but in my opinion we were still the better side and outplayed one of the strongest sides in Europe. Worthy of a little praise perhaps?..

There was NOTHING positive in Wrights post match analysis.

As a child he was my favourite player but to be honest his 'anti-Wenger' overtly pessemistic articles and commentry are really starting to piss me off.

I can undwerstand a pundit trying to give an unbiased opinion but with Wright it has ALWAYS been anti-Wenger doom and gloom articles and overtly reactive commentry.

I would MUCH rather hear Gary Neville or even Alan Hansen analyze our games than Mr Wright.

    He's a TERRIBLE pundit.

The most difficult game we've had all season and the step up in class opposition showed. We played well when we were able to adapt to the quality of BD, but I think the quality of opposition we've faced so far this season has been significantly lower and didn't help us prepare for this game. Wenger was right in that we showed naivety. I think our midfield was in part the problem, we should have had our best player in the centre controlling things. Certain players like Ramsey and Wilshere tried to do too much against some very good players, and struggled to pull it off. It's ok to bust out with some moves against the Norwich's, but against BD, you have to keep things more simple. These are things that they still need to learn. Also, Wenger should have brought the subs on more earlier, what exactly was Gnarby and Bendy suppose to do for a few minutes!

But the positives are we faced one of the best teams in Europe and narrowly lost. We still have 3 players out, 2 being key players and have a couple of players playing out of position.

In my opinion Ian Weight is still bitter that Wenger let him leave Arsenal, the same goes for Paul Merson

It was a decent enough performance against a very strong side.

The first goal really set us back and we had to work very hard to get back into the game. I was always a bit worried about what would happen in the last 15 minutes after we had expended all that effort.

For me having Flamini out was a big problem. He would have been a good option for the last 15.

Originally I think the plan would have been to get to half time without conceding and try to launch some kind of assault the second half. It looked like we were set up to hit them on the break from the start, but we were starved of the ball and sitting too deep and we conceded which threw the whole plan out the window.

I think it's funny you want to talk about them controlling the game, ummm did you watch your European campaign the previous season, when Bayern-Barca were also in full control of the games they played you in? Oh but that didn't matter at the end eh, but when it comes to Arsenal and another team are controlling the game, then oh my the sky has fallen and it's the end of the world, get your kids, your missus, and take them to the bunker, and just make sure John Terry isn't there.

Arsenal find it easy to play when not under pressure? We were playing under HUGE pressure from February all the way up to the end of the season when top 4 was far from secure, when Spurs were looking like the better team, and then Spurs beat us to go 7 points ahead, so talk about pressure, we then put in one of the best runs of the season winning I believe 8 of our last 10 games, including up to 6 games away from home. But that wasn't playing under pressure right?

Oh and our games this season against Fenerbache also came under huge pressure, we had just lost to Villa, the negativity and pressure was through the roof, we went away to Turkey, and what happened? Put in a flawless performance.

Only 'certain' Arabs, although I am sure that you would like to try and turn it into some faux racist cause if you could. <doh>

So, the point I was making was that I was having an already **** holiday only to have it compounded by being surrounded by lots of Germans celebrating Arsenal's defeat. I see how it clearly went over your head, but then you must appreciate that it wasn't aimed at those of you dwelling in the 2nd division of the intellect league.

Back to footie...our 2 most influential players of recent weeks/months may as well not been on the pitch and we still virtually equalled Dortmund. All in all I think we have every reason to remain confident of our prospects.

Wasn't accusing you of being a racist...in my first response i just suggested they might have had as low opinion of you as you did of them...in my second i was not insuating you were a racist either ...just you were sulking after arsenal lost....I see that clearly went over your head, but then you must appreciate that I wasn't aware tgat you were dwelling in the 2nd division of the interlect league ...<laugh>

Seriously though...if I offended you then I am sorry...I didnt for a second accuse you of racism...its too serious an issue to **** around with

    Apologies for ****ing you off
