we played ok tonite , but OK isnt good enough to beat Dortmund . Next time we need to be far more determined and precise. some of our passing tonite was poor to say the least .

We weren't as clinical as we could have been, but Dortmund were there for the taking in the majority of the second half. Santi almost scored the winner and it would have been no more than we deserved. But against the best, you always run the risk of getting hit on the counter.

Has it dawned on you guys that we now really have to work to get out of the group? There is no way we'll win at the Westfalen, so let's say Dortmund have 9 points. Napoli will beat Marseille in Naples, so lets say they have 9 points. We beat Marseille, gives us 9, and assume Dortmund beat Napoli at the Westfalen. Leaves us and Napoli both on 9, with us needing to win in Naples to qualify. Pretty tough IMO.
Agree, squad depth could be your problem this year, like Chelsea's. City have the best balanced squad. You seem well stocked in midfield, better than us in the pivot maybe
We have players coming back from injury so there should be chances for players to have a rest, except at CB. I think we need 2 players in January in the positions called for in the summer, a world class striker and a player who can cover CB and DM. We could have really done with someone who could adequately cover for Flamini. Arteta is a great player but is not a proper DM.
Read back through the thread, people have already been saying how tough it will be. But you are making assumptions about Dortmund beating us there. I think we have at least a chance of a draw, putting us both on seven points. That then leaves the games against Napoli and Marseille which we can also get four points from
We will not win in Dortmund. I've been accused of overrating them, but as someone who follows the Bundesliga, trust me, they will dominate us if we don't play to our potential, and you never know with us.
So it could come down to goal difference to get out of the group. We cant really expect to win the CL with the team that went out tonight, but give them a rest and reinforce with the players out injured and they can.
We had very few shots on target, they stifled us. Sometimes i think we're guilty of underrating our opponents.

Problem is they've got Gundogan and Kehl (their 1st choice CM pairing) still to come back from injury, Reus wasn't fully fit today, so when they heal, they'll be a lot better. All we've got coming back in the next 2 weeks is Theo, and that's unlikely at best.
