He has the most savage tongue of anyone I have known and can destroy the most confident of people within a matter of minutes! Old Beetroot head has stuck the boot into former Town legend Roy Keane! If Ferguson felt that Keane is intimidating then god knows how much fear he instilled into the players when he was at Town! And guess who was the only man with the balls to stand up to him? Yes you guessed it.... Mick McCarthy!
I'm glad Fergie pointed out that he 'came up short' at Town because I don't think anyone noticed. Seriously though, Roy Keane was the captain and heartbeat of Fergie's side. I would like to read what he actually wrote in the book because Fergie actually owes Roy Keane a good chunk of his success.
The history of the game is littered with excellent footballers who couldn't cut the mustard as managers! Just look at Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Peter Shilton and the list is endless!
Town legend....really.................................................I mean REALLY? I cant think of anyone who deserves the legend tag less
OK sorry, Did miss that. Must be a topic that I just cant find amusing or I was being a bit thick! (probably the latter)
Loved Ian Wrights reaction to it on ITV, he just couldn't stop laughing. I don't think I have ever loathed someone more than Keane in football, it was such a dark time at our club!!! I actually think Keane is genuinely psychotic!!!
Well apologies if you were offended but psychotic (psychosis) is a very broad term, which can be related to a loss of contact with reality which I believe most people think Keane has. Think you're going a bit OTT here. There are many terms you use which I wouldn't use even in jest!!
Personally i think some of you are being rather dim, Roys response was spot on by questioning AF's loyalty, he has slammed those that bought him success and Roy has criticised him over that, think what you may of RK but he was a great footballer, albeit a hot head!! Honestly, what is it with all these books these days?
PTC Really? You think Roy has lost contact with reality, ffs, there are some out there that really have lost contact with reality and trust me when i say Roy is not one of them!! My wife works in mental health and if you want to see someone who has lost contact with reality then visit your local mental hospital! I think Roy handled the situation well tonight, yes **** manager but great player and NOT as thick as you make out!!
Well done for googling it 'I actually think Keane is genuinely psychotic' Really? Yeah it is offensive and no I don't believe you knew what if meant when you posted it. And then you go further by intimating that most people think he's actually mentally ill. The man talks no end of sense. The reason he's not a good manager is that he has impossibly high standards, that professionally he doesn't stroke egos, think about who he might upset or particularly care who he upsets.
It's about context. When a kid in the playground uses the word mental or ****** he doesn't mean that person is mentally ill. Likewise we have a raft of derogatory terms which mean something pretty serious but are not used in that sense when in common usage. An adult saying someone like Roy Keane is 'really genuinely psychotic' does not fall into this category and just belies ignorance about something pretty serious.
well this is all just getting silly. I did not mean to cause offence, and am pretty pissed off at both your responses, it was a turn of phrase, like someone saying he is a cancer at this club, or he looks genuinely depressed etc, would that cause offence? He does show some psychotic tendancies look at what he did to Haaland, it doesn't mean he has serious mental issues, mental illness's are all on a spectrum and most people fit somewhere on the scale, showin some tendancies from time to time. Can I ask if you ever used to sing 'psycho, psycho, psycho', when Richard Naylor scored or came on or when they used to call Stuart Pearce it, or did you just think well that's really offensive, all those people are really ignorant? If you both had a problem with it, would the mature response not to have been to PM about it, I would've been fine about it and appologised but rather that you both come on here on your high horses (which is a tad ironic) to get one over on me and make me look stupid, when there was really no need. I think we should draw a line under it before this gets out of hand, as clearly a few of us are on different wave lengths.
Alex Ferguson appears to be resorting to tabloid journalism in promoting his book, must say I'm a bit surprised he has engaged in tittle tattle. Roy Keane as we know, was a great player for Manchester United, he was arguably Fergusons chief lieutenant, and it could be said that without Keane, they might not have had the success they achieved, so it does seem a bit unbalanced to attack Keane like he has
