Burnley and QPR set the pace now as they did 41 years ago! Christ, I suddenly feel so old. I remember that season almost like it was yesterday. Be nice if we go up together again...

Nice one Sooper. Burnley were very good that year to be champions ahead of us. That was the biggest home game of the season I was tense as anything.

They were such a good side and the following season they made a cracking start in the top division, yet barely a decade later they had to win their last game of the season in Division Four to stay in the league...

Remember the 72/73 game well, I think that's when we realised we were in all probabilty going up that season....also memories of the loftus road sand pit of a pitch, would really enjoy watching some of today's pampered players try to play on that....makes you realise how good the players were back in the 70's.

Anyway here's another memory of games against Burnley....can't imagine the same scoreline this week!!!!

Here's the game where Malcolm MacDonald scored all five against Cyprus. Thomas was a second half sub and he provided the crosses for the last two goals...

The 2nd one was the best.......great one-two and pin-point cross!
Also, is it me, or was the crowd at Wembley so much louder in those days?!!

Yes, you had the two huge terraces at either end and a standing crowd always seems to generate more noise...
