I'm always astonished by the number of detractors Jose has. We have got away with having a really slow, ponderous, unintelligent back four for the past 3 years purely because of Semedo's energy and passion. No he's not a great passer, but why expect him to be? There are 5 others in front of him to do that. There will be a huge hole in our defence if he goes.
Every time we get a song about a player he leaves. Nicky Bailey, Jorge Costa, Paolo di Canio, Scott Parker, Darren Bent.....the list goes on. Nice one DVDDD
This article reads like everyone hyping up the negative side of Semedo as to brace themselves for when he does depart. Pretty sure it was similar when Bailey looked set to go. Personally (out of hope more than anything) I don't he's as certain to leave as many are making out.
No deal done until the ink is dry and I hope that some of the Semedo bashers will have to eat their words. He was a bright spot in an altogether poor season and if we play him at CB, where he was until the unmentionable made him play out of position, I reckon we will see why he was signed in the first place. Everyone is looking for a strong and committed CB and I for one believe we should look closer to home and possibly offer a potential captain a little bit more money to stay with the club.
We aren't bashing- we are saying he isn't a midfielder. If that's what he is signed for, then a waste. SiGn him as a defender then ok. As for this season, I thought he was very, very average. Having a team of poor players around flattered him.
He was player of the season - was it a fix? I doubt it. Did only 20 people vote, all his relatives? Don't think so. Was he the best of a bad bunch, then? Quite possibly, the least worst choice. Will we miss him? Undoubtedly. Nobody does the job he does - unless we can get someone to replicate the strengths he brings, he's going to leave a big, big hole.
I think he won it more in the season before, and the fans being quite sentimental... If we are going by performances this season, and semedo was indeed the best then I'm surprised we weren't relegated(over exaggeration, but you get my point). Once again, sign as a defender. No point in signing as a midfielder as there are better options available.
Tewkes- If we'd had better CB's last season Semedo wouldn't have had to spend so much time protecting the poor old chaps, so if we can rectify this we might not miss him too much. Hope he re-signs for us as a CB though.
“If they give me a contract here for all of my life, I would sign it. This is my home and I would stay here all my life.” Mmmm now I wonder who said that. No prizes for guessing.
''It has been confirmed that Jose Semedo is talking to League One rivals, Sheffield Wednesday. Gary Megson is keen to agree terms with Semedo quickly and is hoping Milan Mandaric will clinch the deal in the next few days. Like many players, Semedo is probably considering all options so Megson, like Powell, is likely to have a frustrating few days.'' http://www.kentsportsnews.com/News-...une-2011/Hayes-deal-still-in-the-balance.aspx
Funny that all the negative views that people have of Semedo are only coming out when it looks like he's off. You've all been singing his praises for the last 2 years, why not just say thanks for your service, you were great for us and good luck?
