I am utterly convinced by my superb footballing knowledge and gut reactions that this guy will never make it at utd. you give him 100mil and he'll but fellianis. now thats going and doing him a dis-service and not a small one cos he has picked a few right good uns for everton.. whoever..... he will not attract a big time player will he? all the rumored late bids and the fabregas stuff doesn't add up to much yet, only real honest to god purchases will tell us but my gut says he'll buy not quite good enough players and he'll play a style and make tactical decisions that will elad to more late goals against than late goals for. tht is... they'll drop an awful lot of points that they used to basically rob people blind of in the the last ten. I simply don't see a moyes side being the class of the field like anchelotti's chelsea or mourinho's cheslea or wengers pomp. I could see him maybe doing a mancini on it and having a decent run at it, they've plenty of talent to do it. I would put it down as a low chance but not impossible tha they won't take top 4. I am still thinking on spurs v arsenal for 4th but i could see a case for spurs v utd or arsenal v utd for 4th somehow. I simply don't see a LFC v utd for 4th conversation this year.... unfortunately....
So tempted to scroll back and look at what you were saying about Rodgers last year PS...I can't actually remember but suspect you was on the 'negative' side of the coin
Moyes is a typical British manager - no real credentials but considered a 'winner' because he conducts himself well. Rodgers is a modern manager - studies the game and different styles. Makes me grateful that we have a forward thinking manager. The biggest mistake that Moyes made was getting rid of a winning back room staff - that experience is crucial considering he has no experience of actually winning.
Fergie hadn't taken over the team that had just won the league by 11 points though. Moyes' ability to make champions look average is pretty special, and more than could have been hoped for. Paying 4 million more than the buy out for a midfielder you then play out of position is pretty special management to.
Thought you would raise the Rodgers comparison and my answer to that is he is young and was brought in on potential. Moyes has been there for years and done quite well without actually doing anything major. Moyes succeeding would look good on Fergie, but him failing also promotes "just how good" Fergie actually was with an average squad. Which is a fair conclusion, love him or loathe him.
The MUFC squad over the past few years have been poor - in comparison with rivals and previous MUFC teams. Great credit to Fergie because he got the best out of them - man management, tactical, you name it. He also had exceptional back room staff.
Lets not forget David Moyes' Everton used to improve after Christmas and turn into some sort of juggernaut beating everyone in their path. Maybe its the way he conditions his teams, so they start slowly but finish very strongly. If he can keep in touch with the top up until Christmas then he might have a chance? On the other hand though he might've lost the faith of the fans, players and board members by then, because Man Utd aren't Everton, and they have higher standards.
To be fair, Fergie deserves his pedestal, regardless of what we think of him personally. Usually if an average manager takes over a winning team from a successful manager, the impetus of that team is enough to keep them going for a while. Unless this is a long-ish blip for Utd and they start to pull it together, it looks like the Fergie Factor really was the crucial thing. But, we'll see- still a long way to go.
I can't remember. I do remember saying that he's a clown. and he is... he loves the sound of his own voice... I can't remember what i said when he was appointed bar i was not happy kenny got the sack. I must look back... there's nothing wrong with being a clown if you deliver results, its all about results. this is about laughing at utd. which is fair... everyone should, they've laughed long enough. oh and what you put in bold was very obviously (i thought) me poking fun at myself.
100% He cannot use the "we haven't had much money unlike Liverpool" excuse/comparison by then either.
