Interesting that even the great Man. Utd. struggle with atmosphere in their stadium as well.

Might be worth watching this and if it works try something similar ourselves - maybe put it slap bang in the middle of the West Stand just to annoy them!

How does it work? Are you gonna get booted out if you don't sing?

Ridiculous concept if you ask me.

Loads of clubs have done this before, it's nothing new. I remember Arsenal doing it at the Highbury Library. And I think they did propose just that, you either sing all match or youre out, but I agree how do you police that?

It's just a way of getting a bunch of like minded people together in one spot, it works at many clubs, particularly in other parts of Europe.

I hope that one day, most of the North Stand becomes safe standing and stuff like flares are allowed(the ones that smoke, obviously, the wide bottom trousers should remain banned).

It's embarrassing when American football clubs are showing us how to support a team...

I honestly think that's a cultural thing, English people are more self-conscious, inhibited and cynical than Americans (and Europeans for that matter).

It's not something that moving seats or allowing flares will solve.

It would help though, English football fans weren't inhibited thirty years ago, before the game got sanitised.

They still weren't anything like the European/South American Ultras though, not even close.

Moving will help, but the atmosphere/fans in the English game will never be as good.

On that video for example the guys are queuing up the night before because the seats are un-reserved and they want to be stood together, in the UK people would just sit where there was space and complain that they can't create an atmosphere because everyone is spread out. The Americans are just better at this sort of thing!

Don't be daft. Back in fhe 60s and 70s our fans were renowned for their vocal, boisterous support compared to those in Europe. Only recently with the advent of the PL and attempts to take the game away from its working class roots has it become like a morgue with too many fans spectating as though at a theatre rather than supporting their team vociferously. Unfortunately we seem to have more than our fair share of people who sit like dummies.

I was going to come on here and say that it's worked in America.

Thanks for taking the rap for when it inevitably gets called "tinpot".

All like minded "singing people" have more or less moved to E1/E2/E3 though, and most people stand in those sections without a problem.

Basically, I guess what I'm saying is that we already sort of have this section without trying.

i don't agree. at away matches our lot are noisy. they're not reserved. it would help to have the away lot bunched together being noisy. attempts at song would last longer and not just peter out because people were looking around all embarrassed when nobody else joined in.

I don't think we need to be more like Americans, Europeans or whoever. We just need the KC to be like the away end is when we go to places like Goodison. We don't need all the extra crap that the foreign lads do like drums, bands, cheerleaders, etc. Just a bit of good old English singing.

So you think everyone who wants to get behind the team would fit in those 3 sections (not who all join in even there, especially in E3)? Then we have the least amount of people who want to get behind the team in the PL or Championship.
E1,2 or 3 are not what people havein mind with overbearing stewards itching for an excuse to eject somebody ( have noticed that at other grounds the focus is on the away fans whilst at the KC all the attention of the stewards and police with their cameras is on the home fans).

The only way, and it won't happen, is to start again so people who want to act like they are at a theatre aren't mixed in with people who want to act like they are at a football match.

At Everton there was a row of old people in front of me who wanted to sit down while everyone else was standing. They didn't moan but a steward noticed, came over and arranged for these people to go and sit near the front so everyone was happy. Common sense and we all enjoyed the game. Why should it be any different at other grounds?

I think it's obvious that if you want to stand or sing then E1, E2 and E3 are your best bet. I don't think we need any daft "singing section" to make that clear. If you go into the West stand and expect to have a sing song then you're a moron, frankly.

Also, I've been in E3 for the past 6 or 7 years and I haven't been asked to sit down once. Am I missing something or is this just wild exaggerated on this board?

If you think that's noisy you need to watch/go to some European games, no comparison.

Even the European fans that travel to England for CL/EL games put English supporters to shame.

The idea is to have a singing stand, rather than just three blocks.

There are people dotted about all over the East Stand who would rather sing and they can't all move into E1-E3.
