i would, but it's hard enough asking people for money with so many charity events taking place...i'd rather just ask for one event, and hope to raise a fair bit . Nice idea though, thanks lovely
About this time last year, I was placed on an exercise referral programme by my GP but only went to 4 sessions, the last being in September. I've just found out that I don't need to be re-referred, despite the 9 month gap, so I'm going to go back to it next week. I can't go back to it this week as I need to pre-book a session.
I need to lose about 20 lbs. I'm back running properly now and am over the 10k mark too, burning roughly 1000 cals a run, x 3 times a week. Am also hitting the Gym the days inbetween with a day off on a Thursday. My goal is to shed 20lbs by Christmas so I'm hoping to get there as I'm 40 next year.
I am upping my fitness by doing 21 mile bike rides, done 3 this week and will get one more in tomorrow. This mighty fine weather we have been having recently does help I didn't realise that Gloucester was actually so big but I am off to see the physio this afternoon to try and get my tennis elbow sorted once and or all, the last time I went she mentioned electric shock wave treatment not too sure how I feel about that though!
Thats a stone put back on thanks to my damn inflammation issues in feet legs and heaven knows what else.. Cardiff half marathon in 60 days not run since Balmoral 10k which was my only run this year. I wonder if I can wing it through a half marathon? At least Cardiff is flat, any music playlist recommendations? Still at least the orns are marching on tomorrow........
Almost a year now since my sports injury put me in hospital. Managed to lose a stone since then very slowly and am aiming for another 7lbs off which would get me back to my best weight. I aim to walk 3 miles a day, sometimes I do, but it is not fun when it is too hot. Suspect I could lose it faster, but then I do enjoy the odd glass or two of wine.
Well done on that, losing a stone after injury takes some pretty powerful control especially when one enjoys the odd glass of vinio or as is my case the odd bottle of vino, few bottles of beer and Scotlands finest 12/15 year old waters..... Walking is the key when not at 10 10ths.....
I guess it must be the alcohol that does it Since February I've lost 26kg - approx four & a half stone if my maths is correct - without doing any exercise whatsoever (mainly because my knees won't let me). The amount of alcohol I've imbibed in that time is minimal, barely enough to cause a ripple in the urinal trough.....
Have just been given the date for the first of my knee replacement ops - 24th September. My first thought - much to the wife's disbelief - was 'Which games will I miss?' Wigan at home - a possible cracker of a match. Wonder if the hospital have wi-fi ?
Well done on the weight lose BB, that is brilliant - spot on about the alcohol. If hospitals have WiFi,you can bet your new Titanium knees that you have to pay for it . I started eating a lot more sensibly a few weeks ago and started back at the gym at the same time and managed to lose 5Kg's in 3 weeks before we went to Cyprus and only put 1 Kg back on whilst away. I have the target to lose another 12Kg by the end of the year.
well, the run is next Sunday...and amazingly, for someone who's never run before, i'm ready! 10 miles, here we come! And...while i've been training, i've managed to lose 2 stone...so it's a win win!! Yay me Will let you know how i get on...have to admit, i'm pretty proud of myself, and grateful to be fit and well enough to be able to do it ..and at the same time, raise money for Macmillan
Good luck H and well done on the weight loss. Mrs S had a really bad skin allergy a couple of years back (she looked like Mrs Blobby) and after the Dr, hospital etc they really did not come up with any solution. On tv at the time was this programme which suggested a different diet as a potential cure so we sought out a dietician (had to go to Aberdeen!). It was a case of finding out the triggers and to do that you had to go back to what is termed a "cave man diet" which was pretty awful (did it for support), you felt like a rabbit sometimes! The weight just fell off, lost 1.5 stone over 6 months. Then you add a new food every few days and see if you get a reaction. Well it worked (I assume) as she got better and we identified a few foods that were best to avoid (and I even noticed a few that were not great for me). We now more or less eat everything we did before but don't binge on the dodgy stuff. Trouble is the weight is creeping up and have put on nearly a stone again. I feel happy at 13 stone and would like to stabalise at that level but am 6lb over. So you are what you eat I guess. Anyway have just been shown this website where you can monitor what you eat, set target weights etc which might help some folk. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ I have been playing with it, its pretty easy and what I find most useful is the info about the calories, carbs etc about everything you eat. Some info stuff you think is nice and healthy is pretty scary, even if it is a healthy food. That's my calorie worth for you anyways.
I am just about to go and collect my prize of a new velo from the garage who ran a competition during the Tour de France. 1st prize was for an electric power assisted one, with 2nd prize being the conventional push hard on the pedals one. With some of the hills we have in these parts I hoped for the powered one, but what I will get will probably be better for my constant drive to keep fit or get fitter.
I found an easier route for my youngest son who had a similar problem. In spite of expert opinion from medical specialists (in Aberdeen as well as elsewhere), he suffered so badly from headaches and stomach cramps that I eventually took the bull by the horns & did something about it myself. I sent a lock of his hair off for testing, and received back a list of foods to which his body was intolerant. We adjusted his diet accordingly and the problems disappeared within a week - and have never returned. Best £45 I've ever spent.
