Bar 2013 and Celtic he actually has a very good record. So since he started as a manager in 2004 he's had considerably more success than failure.

Mowbray has a better win % ratio than McCarthy (43% v 39%) and also Mowbray has actually won something, albeit it the Championship title - what has MM won? F-all...so saying that Mowbray has a poor record is unjustifiable as MM's is worse.

i think mowbray would be a good appointment for most championship clubs. for whatever reason it didn't work out at boro - maybe the pressure of being his hometown club, who knows. either way, the last year has been a disaster for him but he'd definitely be a good long term manager. i think you should keep hold of mick for as long as you can though

Sorry Stretchy but I cant allow you to re-write history!

Mick won the Championship Title TWICE with Sunderland and Wolves and was within a penalty kick away of reaching the QFs of the World Cup! Mick's current win % with Ipswich is 43%.

Don't think you put much thought into that comparision stretchyboy, the slightly higher win percentage can perhaps be explained, Mowbrays best figures were attained when he was managing in Scotland, and its interesting to note that he achieved his best win percentage at Celtic, where in most peoples opinion he didn't do particularly well, this must tell you something.

I don't think Mowbray would be the right man for us at all at the moment. Just my gut.

Micks continued silence on the matter when he could easily end speculation by committing himself to his contract at ITFC smacks of someone hedging their bets, or to put it another way is taking the piss. What a way to treat M E, the club and the fans.

Fieldmarshall it's not often that I disagree with you but I think you are being very harsh. Mick has made no secret of his desire to return to international management at some point in his career and this was always the 'Elephant' in the room when Mick was appointed! Whether he goes or he stays I for one will always be grateful for the way he guided us through a very difficult season and his rebuilding of what was a shattered club when he arrived. As I understand it there has been no approach made by the ROI as yet and I dont blame him if he decided to take the job if it was offered to him. Of course I would be absolutely gutted if he did leave as I think that he is building a team that will be serious contenders in the future but the Club is bigger than the man. Mick has conducted himself with total professionalism in all his dealings so far and I expect that will continue in the future.

Why do people think that he should declare himself out of the running for a job that he has not applied for or been contacted about, if it was me i'd just be carry on and see what turns up, even if MM does not want to move back into International management just yet keeping quiet could strengthen any negotiations on his contract or even availablity of funds from Evans, also it might be that rather than doing things in the press he thinks it would be more respectful to actually speak to whomever it is face to face maybe saying its a little bit early but would be interested in a few years time.

I have to agree with Warky here. Unless we are psychic, there has been no job offers, no applications, no interviews...so this is surely the customary rumour mill which is getting a bit tedious.

We all now accept where we are at PR, MM is a straight bloke, says it as it is, we know his weaknesses, the results and performances, club morale is tons better than last season,...and we shall continue to play mid-table or just above. A couple of results got away, and we could well have been top 6 by now. Lets see what happens next few weeks...pre-xmas standing and form will dictate our ambitions and eventual flattening out. I still see us top 10 by May. Not unhappy with that.

Fair point jonny, I dont want to see him go either and will be at Bolton on Saturday singing " Super Mick " with the rest of the travelling fans. I suppose speculation breeds uncertainty etc and I dont like that just when I thought for the first time in years we had some stability at the club.

Stretchy, curbs has had his day. He's been out the game too long. A few years ago I'd have jumped at that but not now.

I've been dissapointed with Mick in all this tbh, as I've said before given his lack of time at the club I feel he should turn the offer down even if he wants the job. Other managers have ruled themselves out why can't he. What I'm saying is even if he's offered the job he should turn it down because he hasn't been at the club very long and I think I would question his loyalty, he's already had the job before and also he's from Yorkshire!!!

No doubting his done a superb job here but been really dissapointed with him on this, seems a bit selfish to me.

my response was not immature as you put it!

It was just born out of frustration!

He has done nothing wrong as far as I can see and your response like many others on here borders on hysteria! He has not ruled himself out but he has not ruled himself in either! He can't help it if the media have got hold of this and have created this story out of pure speculation and guesswork!
