Now that he's available after being sacked by boro. I've always been a fan of his and I definitely would prefer him to MM.
It wouldn't take long for the Mowbray connection to be made! A good player for Town but a god awful useless manager! If he ever rocked up at Portman Road as our manager we will be in deep 5hite!
Oh god no please. Mr Evans if your thinking ready made replacement, think again. Town legend. Manager,NO. His stock and ability are rock bottom. A huge step backwards. No no no no no no no.
I think that's what the ROI were waiting for before offering MM the job. Mowbray to be installed within a month. Mark my words.
It could work he's had a very hit and miss managerial career hasn't he really. Done a very good job at Hibs and WBA but a poor one at Celtic and mixed at Middlesbrough, initially started well but had a terrible 2013. I like the bloke and he fits the mould of the type of manager I'd like, gets teams playing good attacking football and goes about his business in the right way but I'm not sure what he would be able to acheive with our current squad who lacks creativity and real attacking intent, it would be a complete change in style and it would undoutably mean we'd get alot worse before we got better. Had a poor year but I'm not sure he's as bad a manager as some are making out aand certainly has good experience behind him.
If MM was to leave then Mogga would be near the top of my wishlist. Partially sentimental, partially based on the way he wants the game to be played, partially on his willingness to bring through the youth. He seems to be the archetypical decent town manager. He may have a mixed record but still seems to be well respected at the majority of his old clubs (celtic excepted) which suggests that people generally don't turn on him. My main worry would be whether we would return to the soft core we had under Jewell. JWM I would have agreed with you on the madness of signing Leadbitter a year back but he now seems able to take dead balls and look fairly decent in the middle of the pitch. Not that I want Grant back but any coach who could get him to show glimpses of talent must be a decent coach.
Yes, totally agree they were awful on those occasions but have seen Mogga teams play brilliantly for WBA, Hibs and Boro.
Would mogga be that bad? Plays the style everybody is crying out for and loves the club. We have to be realistic in who we can get if mick goes, its seems to me that to get everybodys seal of approval we need the love child of sir alex and jose mourinho. We at the moment are a mid table championship side, nothing more and nothing less.
Have to agree Guru in regards who we can get. But Mogga's recent form is shocking. A definitive no from me. But right now we're putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.
Seriously warky, who do realistically who do you think we could get if mick walks? Its pretty nailed on the marcus evans won't pay to get anybody.
I think we should go for Roy Keane as manager with Paul Jewell as assistant and Jim Magilton head of youth development
