In honour of our great leader, who I know you all love and cherish, I think he deserves a mention for his tactical genius on Saturday. When I saw us lining up with no centre forward and HBA as a "false" striker, I thought "Bloody hell Alan we're not feckin Barcelona!" Fair play to him though it worked a treat. When a team plays with 3 centre backs, you have to think of ways to test them. The obvious solution is always to exploit the room behind the wingbacks and try to pull defenders wide. However we went a bit more outside the box and I think Rodgers was a little outfoxed (he may have changed things at half time to be fair to him had Mbiwa not gone). The 3 centre backs weren't quite sure what to do as they had not a single person to really mark. They did get tight to HBA but were a little reticent to get dragged too far out. Then with Goufran and Remy coming from deeper it meant they had to deal with players running at them with pace.

They were then being overcrowded in midfield as Remy, Gouffran worked their socks off to make it a 5 defensively. This showed good learning on Pardews part to close down the space they got last year, but also learn from where others have struggled this season.

I'm not convinced you can play like this every game, but as a one off to deal with a specific threat posed by the opposition, I think Pards deserves a great deal of credit. I would say that though...............

I heard from a lip reader that Pards just said 'Do what you can' to the players as they went onto the field.

Could it not have been "Do the Can Can" in an effort to distract the opposition?

If I sign, I expect a pin badge, certificate and perhaps a small, silver fox keyring.

Ok. I like that you are able to see past Jim's lube requiring initiation ceremony as long you get a key ring. That's commitment.

If he can 'inspire' the team to victory on Sunday I will give him to the end of this season. I can't be fairer than that.

Now look people, if BRS is on the turn, I think we can all give Sir Al a bit of patience. My faith in him never wavered.................honest.

Putting aside the silliness though, I do think although the jury is still out on him, he is finally showing signs of a recovery from his and the teams almighty slump.

He's done alright, actually. He's learned and I'm kind of surprised how much the players do seem to pull for him. Still get things like Everton which just baffle me. But literally appears to have banned hoofball. Did smile at the ironic cheer when Willo punted it long in the L'pool match!
