What a dull comment. Just post your views like everyone else and stop being a drama queen ffs ! Others have had their opinions fella, and ive had mine too. Not sure what your problem is though, I think you will find that the debate you took such umbridge to take part in was equal, valid, interesting and respectful . 2 different view points debating the differences with no personal insults ,something that tends to make a board worth taking part in..for some . I cant remember ever mocking somebody for their viewpoint in the last 6/7 yrs ive been posting but like many others if I disagree on a point I don't mind giving my version of it Whats your problem ?
So again we have a player judged because he doesn't run around enough. I bet some people on here thought Adrian Forbes was a better player than Pablo Hernandez. Meanwhile those who have more than a rudimentary grasp of the nuances of the game beyond "he run, he stick foot in, he good" (I get a mental image of those people who don't wearing animal pelts and poking at the keyboard with a stick) are fully behind De Guzman as a richly talented player who is almost as important to our style of play as Michu himself.
My debate with Norway was fun, I enjoyed it anyway, no hard feelings from me (even though I think he is wrong ) And Lone, it not all about that he won't run, there is more than that, he is a good player, that could be better if he tracked back more, which as he has shown us in the past, he is more than capable of doing, so its not something he is not good at, or doesn't know how to do. He has lost the ball the most times per game this season, more than any other player in our team, wonder if those who criticised Hernandez last season for it are picking on him for that (I personally am not, its just a stat) and when a player loses the ball that much, he needs to be able to put a shift in on getting the ball back. How often do you see him lose the ball, and stroll back? Sorry, I cannot accept that from any player. Ever. And no matter how good people think he is going forward (which he is) it does not excuse his lack of effort getting back to help out. First and foremost we are a team. He needs to start remembering that when the ball is not going in his preferred direction. If he is playing AM, I am not too bothered, as his defensive duties are not so vastly needed, but whilst playing alongside Britton, Shelvey or Canas, in the centre of the park, he needs to do better with his defensive duties, ESPECIALLY with how we play our full backs. Our full backs get forward, and our CM's are temp used to cover the back line. And when JDG plays in the middle, and doesn't fulfil his defensive duties, it puts us a defensive team under pressure. And that is my opinion of him.
Your mental image strikes me as bizarre and arrogant to say the least. Are we to regard you as the font of all knowledge then, too above we mere cavemen to post a polite response to anyone who disagrees with you?
swanselona, spot on, mate. You do your bearskin proud. PS: Do you use a designer stick to poke your keyboard?
Maybe he has lost the ball because he is passing it forward and trying to create ? Stats dont mention the nearly assists do they ? They go down as an i tercepted pass, stats dont always tell the full story. As for the debate swanselona, i Think it was enjoyable too , nothing wrong with fighting your corner or defending your view point
Not at all. You should at least have the sense to realise though that your visions of all eleven players charging round the pitch battling to win the ball back went out with 4-4-2. The game has moved on. Fortunately Laudrup gets it. De Guzman is there to create. Not defend.
There Are plenty of views on JDG thats for sure, i feel that we as fans dont always know the full story and i also feel that sometimes players Get tagged and always become the scapegoat Even if others have an equally poor game , ive lost count of the amount of players that have had their confidence zapped by ill informed punters on the terraces, the swans fans have a habit of this kind of thing, i include myself in the critisism by the way ! My origional point still stands un challenged. Does JDG win us more points than he loses us ? So far i cant put a single defeat specifically at his door but i can put plenty of victories, i Think laudrup probably thinks the same way hence playing him warts n all
please log in to view this image DIS = Dispossessed per game. Now tell me I am talking complete and utter bollocks. Try backing up your info with stats instead of talking absolute bollocks.
Let's look for some common ground here: 1: JDG has a lot of ability, particularly picking out a pass and dead ball situations. 2: Stats prove he does in fact put a shift in (in the sense of mileage) but they also prove he loses the ball easily and tackling really ain't his thang, man. 3: His primary role is as a creative AM. Note the 'A'. The main issue it seems to me is this. Does he add to the team or detract from it? At the moment he definitely adds to it. His corners have improved in recent times imo and he's always capable of doing what he did on Saturday. No keeper in the Prem could have saved that - it was that good. On the other hand he seems to be a barometer for this team. When he's having a 'mare (as in the first half) so does the team. Or is it the other way around? I was screaming at him for the entire first 45 on Saturday. But as NJ says he's no different to any other player we have - even Michu - in that they all have flaws. Every single one of 'em. Laudrup knows this too, and if he keeps playing JDG it's obvious he agrees with my view that he's contributing more than costing us... at least at the moment. One assumes that if Laudrup faces a fixture in which we require our midfield to track back more than usual he won't start JDG. See? This management lark ain't hard. [EDIT: Forgot to mention, JDG was out on Wind Street with Ash and Canas on Saturday and my son was talking to them. JDG says he often stays behind after training to practice doing what he did Saturday. The others confirmed this. We may not like some of the things he does on the pitch but he clearly recognises his own strengths and works hard at improving them.]
Agree kj but i, sure management at the highest level is a little bit more difficult in certain aspects! I am still waiting for a stat to tell me that he loses us more than he wins us but for some reason after 50 Odd comments im still waiting for it
Was only kidding NJ. I honestly think managing a team on a limited budget at this level is an extremely difficult job. Bigger clubs have higher expectations for sure, but you usually have the dosh to go with it.
surely as the one to make the point it should be you finding the stats Its like me asking you to prove he gets dispossessed more than others
He must be good. He's made Garth Crooks's Team of the Week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24603253
Please tell me you've got more than that? A website that shows attacking players get tackled more than defensive ones? Any other staggering insights for us? A website showing us that goalkeepers handle the ball more perhaps? Think I'm more than justified in repeating my assertion that you're talking complete and utter bollocks.
Its more than what you provided though but then that's the case with people like you, you say **** they have nothing to back it up, not even remotely. Your not Dai in disguise are you? And if offensive players are meant to get tackled (as you seem to suggest), why does Dyer, Routs, Shelvey, Bony, Pozuelo average 1, and Michu averages 0.4, all play further forward than JDG. So much for your "offensive" **** talk.
Try reading other people's posts properly and fully. Had you done so, and I point you to the first paragraph of my post #16 on this thread, you will have seen the following: Ability has to be respected because it is essential. The last thing you want at this level, is a bunch of players who chase around like headless chickens but who don't have the talent to do anything with the ball when they get it. Seems clear enough to me. By the way, your response to swanselona's post namely, "complete and total boll*cks" is juvenile, disrespectful and uncalled for. Have you been taking lessons in Daiswan's school of charm? A number of differing opinions have been expressed here and we are all debating and fighting our corner but in a reasonable and friendly way. By all means disagree but please try and do so with a modicum of respect.... if that's not asking too much.
