Hull City visit Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday 27th October 2013 (KO 16:00) in the 9th round of 2013-14 Premier League.

Hull come into the match in 9th place in the Table on 11 points with Spurs in 5th place on 16 points. The clubs will also met in the Football League (Capital One) Cup Fourth Round at the Lane on Wednesday 30th October.

Sunday's match at will be the 31st time the two teams have met.

Hull City AFC were founded in June 1904, playing their home games at The Boulevard (the home of Hull Rugby club) and were admitted into the Second Division of the Football League for the 1905-06 season and finished in 5th place.

Tottenham Hotspur first played Hull City on 12th January 1907 in the FA Cup 1st Round (today's 3rd Round) when Spurs were in the Southern League and Hull were in the Second Division of the Football League. The match at White Hart Lane ended in a 0-0 draw, as did the replay at Anlaby Road but the match was abandoned after just 10 minutes of extra time. The result stood and a second replay was held at White Hart Lane with Herbert Chapman (later to become a successful manager at Arsenal) scoring the winning goal for Tottenham.

Spurs were admitted into the Football League for season 1908-09 and met Hull City in the Second Division. The Tigers took three out of four points off Spurs but it was Tottenham who won promotion to the First Division.

The two clubs next met in a friendly played in Brussels, Belgium in May 1912 with Hull City winning 2-0.

Spurs lost their Top Flight status when football resumed after WW1 and The games played against Hull on Christmas Day and Boxing Day in 1919 were both won by Tottenham 4-0 at home and 3-1 away. Those six points taken off Hull helped Spurs win promotion again.

The next 10 League meetings all took place in the Second Division over the course of 50 years between 1928 and 1978.

Hull City moved to Boothferry Park in 1946 and remained there until 2002.

The clubs met in the 1953-54 FA Cup with Spurs winning a replayed 5th Round tie 2-0 at the Lane after the first match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Hull were also beaten by Spurs in the 1980-81 FA Cup 4th Round 2-0 at White Hart Lane with Steve Archibald and Garry Brooke getting the goals. Tottenham would go on to win the Centenary Final that season against Manchester City.

The Tigers won promotion to the Top Flight of English Football for the first time in their history for the 2008-09 Premier League season and beat Spurs 1-0 at White Hart Lane in October 2008. The return match at the KC Stadium in February 2009 was won 2-1 by Spurs with goals from Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Woodgate.

A second foreign match was played between Spurs and Hull in Beijing, China in the Final of the Barclays Premier League Asia Trophy in July 2009. Spurs won 3-0 with Robbie Keane scoring a brace and Aaron Lennon getting a goal.

Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick and Wilson Palacios & Robbie Keane scored in the 5-1 Premier League Spurs win at the KC Stadium in August 2009. The match at the Lane in January 2010 ended in a goalless draw. Hull were relegated at the end of the season.

Midfielder Tom Huddlestone joined Hull City from Spurs during the Summer 2013 transfer window for £5.25 million and fellow midfielder Jake Livermore went on loan for the season.

Sunday's game at White Hart Lane will be the 31st match played between the two clubs and Spurs have the edge with 12 wins to Hull's 9 with 9 matches having been drawn.

    Cracking preview.

I expect you lot to win, but who knows? We seem to be playing incredibly well against the big sides, only that first half an hour against Chelsea was bad.

Cheers, you've made a decent job of that.

Looking at that table, I'm surprised how relatively even the results have been.

Cheers for that. I expect you to win, as I did Everton, but hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves and make it a difficult one for you.

Yes, many of our previous meetings came in the old Second Division and there wasn't much to choose between the two clubs.

What do you think of Lamela from what you have seen? He's a good prospect, but I think £30m or whatever you paid for him is a bit steep.

Quite obviously, the lad is very talented but he still has to adjust properly to the pace of the Premier League.

Being in both the League Cup and Europa League will give him match experience and playing time to help bring him up to speed.

I think he'll be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League after Christmas.

Yes, Leeds United were serving a ground closure penalty, but it was a Football League Division One game played at Boothferry Park on 25th August 1971 (Attendance: 25,099).

The match ended in a 1-1 draw with Alan Gilzean scoring Tottenham's goal.

We have cause for optimism. Unbeaten at WHL in the Premier League, I can't see that changing any time soon.

Cause for pessimism - we no longer have Boaz Myhill.

People got a bit overexcited about Lloris last season when AVB didn't bring him striaght into the first team for league games too. AVB seems to be very fair when it comes to players earning the right to play. At the moment Townsend is first choice for the right wing and it's up to him to lose him to lose his place, just as it was with Friedel when he was playing well for us at the beginning of last season.

Definitely looks an exciting player from what I've seen of him in Italy but as he said when he was on international duty, it will take him time to get to grips with the English game which is very different to what he was used to. It's the way it goes sometimes, when we first signed Modric he looked like he was going to struggle a bit but once he adapted he became a top player for us. Sandro was similar too, he was young and looked off the pace in the few chances he got in the first half of the season but after that he just got better and better. Some Spurs fans are getting a bit worried and calling for him to start regardless of whether other players are doing well but I think we just need to be patient.

As for the price tag, I don't think it matters too much if we've paid a lot for him. When you get £86mill for a player you can afford to gamble a bit more and targeting players like Lamela who don't have the £100k+ wage demands we can still remain a stable club longterm even if we don't get regular CL football. It limits us in who we can get so we'll tend to have to go for the slighlty younger or less established players but that's what suits us and has got us this far.

Anyway should be a good game. Not so confident of a win as we're still not quite firing all cylinders at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if we draw.

It'll be good to see Tommy again though, I'm sure he'll get a big cheer from the home crowd.

Good preview, so apologies to nit-pick.

That picture of Alton Thelwell is actually a picture of Leon Cort.

Reckon the 1-5 drubbing at home was the best display by an away team at the KC. Defoe was ****ing lethal.
