    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

"Surely it is time something was done by the increasing - not to mention idiotic - trend of supporters bringing flares into grounds. It was only a matter of time before one created an incident and we had one here at Villa Park when referee's assistant David Bryan was struck by one thrown by Spurs' fans celebrating Andros Townsend's goal.

Some idiot will get his hand blown off one of these days. I don't really see the point in having them, setting them off doesn't help your team any.

The result's going the right way for us anyway.

A few games behind closed door would solve the problem, I thnik. Though the PL would be dead against it.

The Clubs wouldn't like the loss in revenue either, but if they got hit by fines to the amount of the revenue they'd think twice about it.

There was a couple went off yesterday in the away end. The first one sounded as if someone had been shot.
Agree about playing behind closed doors.

Happening with many clubs now, always seems to be away fans, it's up to the fans around them to report them to the football clubs and make sure the police are aware of the culprits.

I was sat with a copper mate of mine and he said that it is illegal to enter a stadium with them.
I hope the culprits were dealt with sternly.

You'd think the stewards would be searching for them now that they've become commonplace.

I am wondering where in Birmingham a Villa fan could find a chandlers that would stock something required for the open seas and not the Grand Union Canal.

If we are trying to prevent football culture from reverting back to the 1970's then flares have no place.

Hey I like a boot-cut as much as the next man, but needs must lads...

Sadly we've got fans who take them to every away game, these people should not be allowed in the ground.

The stewards at some games are very thorough, wont even let you take soft drinks into the ground. Searching for flares should be a bit more thorough.

Quite agree, never been a fan of them, ever since we played Bilbao in the UEFA Cup.
