I love the way that Osvaldo has slotted into the team. He obviously enjoys playing with the lads. There is a smile on his face. The bad boy image has gone. The dodgy temperament visible in his first game - resulting in a booking if I recall correctly - has gone. He's starting to adapt and admits this league is much more physical than he is used to. For now I still think his best position is playing off lambert and maybe he should have tried interchanging with j rod more yesterday. I would love to see him and gaston both playing at the top of their game. We would be virtually unplayable! Patience required.
Does anyone know where he lives? We could go round and spray paint his house. Or we could give him time and show we believe in him.
One thing about Osvaldo I've noticed is that he doesn't stop running. He gives his all from what I've seen of him... Good player and good signing.
He is off the pace at the moment but I do think that he will settle in to become a good player for us. I've never thought that about Ramirez funnily enough.
He's had some off days but generally been fine. I think he's been slightly unlucky actually, there's been a few times the ball hasn't quite fallen for him in the box.
He's also missed some great chances though. Notably yesterday and against West Ham when he shot straight at Jaaskelainen from about 8 yards out.
I think it will take time for him to settle. Always thought the most difficult pairing on the park is the boys up front, but there are signs that the understanding is starting to form. He's definitely snatching at chances and his temperament worries me slightly, but he is clearly a class act. These Latin types need a bit of love.
I think he's showing my moments of brilliance and should hopefully become a top player. People are saying he had a bad mass against Utd yesterday - Lambert wouldn't have even got ahead of the defender to shoot! None of our strikers are free scoring but I've seen more from Dani this season than Lambert; Dani covers a lot more ground and should speed up our play.
He needs time to settle, as everyone keeps saying. He was fairly quiet yesterday, but his quality is there for all to see. When he gets used to the league and his confidence is up he will be great for us I feel. Don't forget that we were playing the champions yesterday.
I'm in the give him time and the class will show camp. Lambert, Rodriguez and Gully have all missed sitters more than once so Osvaldo's in good company. The team are already doing well against good teams and that's before our strikers have really hit top form. Hopefully means even more exciting things ahead.
I'm pretty much neutral, and trusting NC and MP on this. Especially MP as he knows the player well. He hasn't shown that he's worth the price tag or done what we brought him in to do. But he's still our best or second-best striker. I'm not particularly worried about his performances so far, but I wouldn't say it's just a matter of time before he comes around, either. It's just too early to tell. At the price we paid, I think we can recoup much of our money if it doesn't work out so the stakes aren't that high. I'm happy to just let it all play out and we'll see.
It took Benteke a little while to hit the ground running last season. Indeed, I remember thinking he looked pretty useless when Villa come down here at the starts last season. I'd much rather have a striker who takes a little bit of time to settle, before banging them in, than a Jelavic or Cisse, who don't stop scoring for their first 6 months, and then basically never score again.
Still needs to impress me. He has shown snippets of what to expect, he just needs a bit of time to adapt to the english game. Saying that one thing he needs to do is chase back when he loses the ball and not just throw his hands up and sulk.
