battling it out in the lower leagues with a team full of triers than a premier league team full of these over paid no hopers!! Starting to think relegation might be a blessed relief! Starting to think liquidation might be a blessed relief actually! haha!

I couldn't be more in disagreement with this entire thread if it were humanly possible to be so.

Relegation will be a major long term disaster for our club not a saviour.

This 100%. I just can't understand the line of thinking that relegation will somehow make us bounce back stronger? We'd fade into oblivion imo. There's nothing stopping us getting rid of the opverpaid dross if we stay in the league - the only difference is we'd be able to attract a better quality of replacement, and have millions more to do it?

It wasnt really a serious comment! I dont want us to be relegated! I'll be devastated! However, if it happens, which it will, I'll take a little bit of comfort in the hope that the ****e will be sold/released (if anybody would want them) and some of the developing players and squad players (Mavrais, Karlsson, Ba, Whickham etc) might work their bollocks off and give the club a bit more respectability and lead us straight back up! With any luck, we might be able to keep one or two first teamers (ie Cattermole and Fletcher) but I'm unsure whether we would be able to afford to keep them or whether they would want to stay!

Relegation is not an option although it looks like a formality now.

We keep saying it but imo we need the 6 points from the next 2 games just to hang on in there. Unfortunately, and I hope I'm wrong, I think on yesterdays showings the mags will hammer us and Brucies Hull will beat us. UNLESS Poyet learns very very fast and goes on the attack every game. Our defence is sh*te so lets try summit different. Go for it with a minimum of 2 strikers on the pitch.

When I was a kid growing up (1970's) my Mam and Dad were ardent supporters. They would go to every game and take me when they could. I vividly remember my Mam telling me one day that SAFC will always be a great second division team but a bloody rubbish First division team.
In the positivity of my youth I thought she was talking utter bollocks. Well 40 years on I now realise she was spot on and the only thing that has changed is the name of the leagues.

My old man told me this 30 years ago Cyprus and like you I chose not to believe it.

Well the reality is we are a ****e top flight club and have done nothing in the last 6 years to dismiss that reality. We are just a shambles of a club. We have a billionaire globally successful owner; have employed experienced and novice managers and supported them better than ever before and yet the inevitable relegation looms large again.

This will be my 8th and final relegation and like my old man, it will be my last. I don't have to tell my 8 year old we are ****e. She already knows it with 3 defeats and a draw in her 4 game run.

It is a sad state of affairs.
If we ignore the performance of the players for a second, difficult I know as it is the most important bit. But look at our club without taking the players into account.
Top 10 Stadium? Top ten fan base? Top ten academy? Billionaire chairman?
I don't think any neutral fan could answer no to any of my questions. So why the hell in my 47 years have we achieved top 10 only three times???
We deserve so much more from the shower of **** that has the privilege to pull on the Red and White jersey.

I will always support them but it doesn't mean I will be happy with them
