http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6971179,00.html what do you make of this? apart from liverpool going very, very english on us all of a sudden...good signing or not if it comes off? lots credit his injury with birmingham going down. i just hope you get him for a decent price because we're paying 17 million for jones please log in to view this image
I think it's a good move, especially with Carragher close to retirement. I hope we don't spend too much on him, although he is a Liverpool fan and used to have a season ticket.
Agreed. I doubt it if we would have beaten Birmingham 5-0 if he and Roger Johnson had to have been in tandem.
Yeah, he'd be good to have. The trouble with most fans is that they look at the club before the player. There are too many out there who are quick to label somebody one way or another without having seen them play.
Wouldn't mind Dann think Jones will be better in the future though. Just always bodes well that Dann is a Liverpool fan, means your garenteed 100% everyweek.
If the price is right, I think he would be a good signing, a decent backup with potential to be a first team regular.
Scott Dann may look unfashionable. But wasn't Colin Hendry unfashionable when Kenny signed him from Man City for Blackburn. He became one of Kenny's most important players and was a mainstay of their title winning team.Centre halves don't have to be glamourous. They just need to be able to do a job.
if he's not too expensive, great buy. He's a good solid defender, and not too old. Long term replacement for Carragher?
I feel he would be a good signing. He was excellent for Birmingham in their first season in the Premier League and was important to the team this season before he got injured. Birmingham fell apart after he got injured. Would have him at Liverpool. Around £8M would be good.
The thing I like about Dann is not just that he's young and he's English (and a former LFC season ticket holder) but that he's earned the right to play for the club he loves the really hard way - never had the benefit of being brought through an academy (ANY academy), he's got to where he is through sheer grit and bloody determination. He was ignored by both Everton and Liverpool as a youngster and I think it was Walsall who came into for him at 16 on a YTS deal. I read an article last year that said he even did the rounds in the conference at a Midlands club and was then sent out on loan to a club in Denmark as a favour for a mate of the Walsall chairman! He's paid his dues, as far as I'm concerned, and has got to where he is on merit. I for one would love to see him return to the city and to the club he loves. GKRK
waste of money imo. why are we spending daft money on average players just because they are english? the best players in europe arent english, i really hope we dont get dann/ downing/doni/henderson etc these players wont turn us into a top 4 team we need the likes of young/sanchez/enrique/hazard/honda/mata etc
I was watching LFCTV a little while back, and some of the pundits rate him very highly(I can't remember who they were),They said exactly the same thing. He's no nonsense, does his job and is extremely reliable and thats what you need for an eventual successor to King Carra. Secondly. Wakka. Can you go and wum somewhere else. Teams are successful.....11 individuals win nothing no matter how good they are.
Anyway back in the real world For those of us who don't play championship manager, Dann around £8 million would be good value.
