In the past this result would have been Saints being battered and sneaking a lucky equaliser. What I love about today is that we were their equals. At no time were we outplayed and at times we really took it too them. It was a thoroughly deserved result and we achieved it playing the Saints way. All in all, fantastic.
Yeah, I looked hard at this pic from the BBC website too. Fonte doesn't surprise me anymore. Nobody is more committed to the cause. Nice to see new laddie, Osvaldo is as chuffed as anyone. He's definitely on-board too. And Dejan thought he'd scored.
Match report - from myself - thoughts welcome: http://hereisthecity.com/2013/10/19...ller-snatches-three-points-from-manchester-u/
So i've just noticed a few articles about Southampton published before the game. Nothing better than a game against England's most media covered club to get you some publicity. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/oct/18/mauricio-pochettino-southampton http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ricio-Pochettino-chairman-Nicola-Cortese.html Both pretty accurate articles, it's nice to see the journalist get it right about Saints, for a change.
Anyone else gutted that we didn't win? By the sounds of it, we were all over them. I hope people focus on the fact that we were brilliant and not that Man Utd were average. Interesting move to bench Lambert, surprised he didn't score when he comes on like he normally does! Did Rodriguez do OK? It's not acceptable to drop two points against a mid-table team!
We looked like a team playing as their peers - some of our players are the real deal. The challenge now is to break teams down at home, will be interesting against Fulham
We were equal opponents, but United had by far the better chances. They rattled the woodwork twice and also forced Boruc to make two superb saves. So we should count ourselves a bit lucky.
About time we had a bit of luck. Last season nothing went our way. This year we 've come away with points that might have escaped us. A sign of a good team or just luck? Down to 5th but im still pretty chuffed that one of our toughest fixtures has served us with a point. Roll on fulham lets roll em over!
