The live game out here was the Chelsea v Cardiff game, Marshall had a howler, Chelsea's first goal, what was Marshall thinking!!!!! Great result for Swansea, convincing scoreline as well.

Leon was immense as usual. Hopefully ML will play him more often in the league.

Yep, agree on Leon was everywhere even in the penalty area, he must of had a dizzy spell being that far forward, thats why he fell over!! :emoticon-0100-smile

Never predicted that after the first half. JdG was rank and I wondered if he'd get hooked. Fair play though, he scored an absolutely fabulous goal which I think broke Sunderland's hearts, had a superb strike that was brilliantly saved and generally upped his performance in the second half - along with the rest of the team who looked like they'd been sleeping.

For me, this narrow game we play trying "give-and goes" through a packed defence just doesn't work. We look far more dangerous when we get the ball wide and use our pace and strength out there. By all means try the intricate stuff for variety but Laudrup must remember that our players just don't possess the skill and ability either of himself or his former team mates.

I think we had the run of the ball today and I'll take the result with delight. But I still think we are lacking and we shouldn't let this game gloss over some glaring deficiencies. No time to go into them now but Laudrup will realise that his team requires a lot more work in a number of critical areas.

Won't worry about that right now as I'm off out for dinner with a big grin of relief on my face.

JDG ran the show not leon <ok>

Take away the first half for all of the players because they were nearly all **** !

A special mention for Taylor, did less running than Davies but had much better shape and defensive awareness , I feel we are too loose sometimes so it was nice to see him balance defence and attack in equal measure.

Amat was good, chico was yet again very iffy, for me the new partnership needs to be Amat and Ash ,at least until chico gets back to his A game :)

that was the 2nd half performance that we demanded, we had that bit of luck but we upped the tempo and created much more - huge sigh of relief to get that home win!

Thought Chico had a great game. Kept Fletcher quiet, clean sheet and scores goal.

I thought the only reason he (chico) had any kind of parity with fletcher was because the lad has been out injured and itwasnt his first game back,Even then chico should have been sent off for persistantly fouling him !

Chico is not playing to his level These last few games ,he needs to knuckle down and Get on his game, id rather have amat play than him at the moment, and chico is one of my fav players, he hasnt been the leadership many thought he would be since ash got injured, if anything the areæler player looks the 21 yr old amat not chico .

Anyway, a great gritty win and a game of 2 halves !

Well done to the boys ;)

I make it six points ahead of last years equivalent results. (take Palace as West Ham - both promoted via playoffs).

So not a bad start as we finished ninth last year.

    Manure -1
    Spurs 0
    WBA +3
    Lpool 0
    Palace +3
    Arse 0
    Soton -1
    Sunderland +2

I know. Asked about it some weeks ago, since the odds looked quite good then, someone said the last one was in the 11-12 season. Since there needs to be a regression to the mean at some point I figured that the long play was worth it - only took 4 matches to come good:)

Now to find some other team that hasn't had some event happen to them in forever and a day:)

De Guzman's performance mirrored that of the team. Criminally bad first half, but much improved in the second. I still don't think we're playing anywhere near our best though, and some ill-discipline on the part of Sunderland helped us a lot today. That said, we deserved the win.

I think that was an important win for us today if we hadn't won against the bottom side then ML and the players would have felt the pressure from the fans quite acutely I recon. But now they have to face the comments due about we only beat the bottom club so no big deal . So the next game is just as important to lift everyone even more and keep us on target to safety A.s.a.p.
