I think it's quite apparent who's the mug, when you defend the indefensible i.e. Di Canio.

The players are the ones who you cannot defend.

PDC was right about the players, mentally weak, unable to concentrate, unfit and lacking in spirit.

This is lower than the club has ever been before imo, eclipsing the third division season.

I agree with what you're saying about the players. My point, really, is that Di Canio has made a bad situation much worse. I wish you could give these players a reality check but players, of all clubs, now hold too much power.

The approach of Di Canio was never going to work.

    Often? 27 posts in...

Those 3-0 predictions seem well off.

It had to be all or nothing with PDC and unfortunately the club gave him nothing.

Same old story, play decent then concede a set piece then fall to pieces. Pathetic.

Up to half time you we very well disciplined, pressed us high up the pitch and stopped us playing.

If Poyet can get your players to do this over 90mins then, you stand a good chance of getting your season back on track. I think Poyet will do really well for you and we all thought that you would give us a tough game which you did first half.

    All the best lads.

The approach of PDC was determined by the players attitudes, I suspect he tried the arm round the shoulder, the hair drier treatment in the dressing room and the reasoned debate but it got him absolutely nowhere.

His outbursts in the media now seem to be born out of a sense of frustration with the players that I and I hope others now share and appreciate, they are obviously incapable of playing with any sort of cohesion or back bone.

We brought in too many players from relegated clubs and the net result is that we will be relegated, barring a miracle and some gumption from the manager to play some of the players PDC brought in who frankly have better pedigrees than the ****e that played today.

However, when he leaves out Jack Colbeck then I really do fear that Poyet also has no back bone.

As I've acknowledged, the situation was bad - I would put that down to O'Neill. Bruce made some very good signings: Bent, Gyan, Lorik Cana, Fraizer Campbell, Lee Cattermole, John Mensah(when he played), Simon Mignolet, Stepahne Sessegnon.

I know that people are goint to come back and quote the failures but that happens to every manager. I don't think any of Di Canio's signings, Giaccherini apart, can be compared to the signings shown above. His approach to management compounded matters.

In all of this, Short has to take his fair share of the blame, As I've said before, cheap & cheerful signings were never going to work. Short is reaping what he has sowed.
