True tots, we do have players who have yet to fully settle and of course squad players are important which makes AVB's failure to use the squad more baffling but ultimately it's the big game players which will make the difference when it comes to our targets.

Training video from the Spurs Youtube channel:

Not sure if it has any relevance, but Townsend's playing on the left in the same team as Lamela, Adebayor and Defoe are paired together and Sandro gives a good post-match interview! <laugh>
Good to see Adebayor and Lennon back from injury and training with the first team. Maybe they'll feature against Sheriff?

Even less relevant, there was a link to Holtby doing keepie uppies with a tennis ball. I have no idea if that is impressive for a professional footballer (I suspect so) but I know I can't do any!

No rose or capoue for this game apparently, which means naughton is again going to be on the left, if villa are smart they will target that weak spot.

Once we have the real beast back in action and back to his best providing cover for our defence and starting counter attacks with his break up play, then its going to definitely help us improve overall as a team.

It is one of the major frustrations for me that I am rubbish at keepy-uppy, even with a football, god forbid I use a tennis ball. I was a decent player, good control, good crosser, reasonable shot. But keepy uppy my record is about 4, and I probably ended up on my arse trying to do that <steam>

As we prepare for Aston Villa my mind goes back a long way,to the mid fifties in fact.
Danny Blanchflower!
Arthur Rowe and Tom Whittaker(Arsenal) had both journeyed to Birmingham to interview, and bid,for Danny's services.
Tom was welcomed in the Villa chairman's home,in the front room,to talk to Danny.
Arthur was allowed to interview Danny in the......kitchen!!!!!!
I believe Whittaker was allowed to bid upto and not over, 28,000.So Arsenal lost out as Spurs bid 30,000 and got him!........
Danny made his debut at Maine Road,Manchester......and Arthur said for the first time in months he could relax and enjoy the game.....and that was the start of something big!!!!!!!

Boss I can only assume that in the first GIF the ball burst, because I can't see it anywhere else!

I can do about a million keepy-uppies with a tennis ball.

Of course I use a tennis racket.:emoticon-0141-whew:

****, Rose is still out. I thought he was only supposed to be out for a few days, it's been over a month now, hasn't it?

If Rose is out we can assume thats Naughton at LB, in that case I want Townsend on the left so we still have natural width there. If Verts plays LB then its not so much of an issue but Naughton does nothing for me on the left offensively, he narrows our play too regularly when going forward IMO.

Agreed, not sure if Lamela can play out there but we definitely need a leftie out there if Naughton's playing.

I'd rather have Townsend out there over Lamela or Holtby, Townsend has played there before and seems fairly proficient with his right foot so he can do anything he wants regarding curing in/hitting the byline on the left, far more so than Lamela and Holtby isn't effective out wide IMO.

Still think we might see Sig though.

I also hope Paulinho gets a rest as he has had a lot of football and a lot of travelling in the last few weeks.

I'm not really bothered about his right peg. I want a leftie on the left because I want them going down the line as much as possible to avoid Naughton having to play as an overlapping full back.

Great news IMO that Adebayor is back from the wilderness. Soldado, Defoe and Adebayor is a good mix of strikers, and I think we may need all of them. (Forgot about Kane, who seems like quite a decent player except he can't score.)

Of course, but its always a nice option to have to come inside on a right foot he seems relatively comfortable with. Keeps the fullback guessing.

Townsend is settled on the right, it's where Redknapp played him at QPR and got him performing, it's where he's played for us and also England so clearly that's his best side as Redknapp, Avb and Hodgson all see him as a right winger.

I get why YV wants a left-footed winger playing left wing and maybe Townsend will end up there at some point, maybe even today Lol but I'll like to see him stay on the right as like Huddlefro says, it keeps the full back guessing.
