You don't get much for £300K in football nowadays.............turn it on it's head, the managerial appointment is as important as the signing of a player.

Now if we signed a player who hasn't really acheived much on a free, or a player who hasn't done badly who was available for £300K, well if we went for the free, we would accuse the board of lacking ambition. They can't win !

With regard to the Jones thing, I know he WAS on a rolling contract which was worth just over £14k a week to him, but this included win bonuses and other performance related bonuses (dependent on league position and suchlike) so his basic was probably a fair bit lower. I don't know if DJ's contract was altered, but the clubs official line was that DJ's Contract had been terminated, and a compensation package had been agreed.......but you can bet the Malaysians didn't pay DJ anymore than they had to <ok>

you cant see anything attractive about the club? well compared to watford we have finished far higher than you since you were relegated from the PL. for mackay it would be a big step up from challenging with a club where finishing 16th and 14th in the championship makes you destined for greatness. but seriously, he would jump at the chance to manage a club with realistic ambitions of promotion.

your post is so embarrassing you are either a troll, or an idiot (or both).

<party><party><party>:emoticon-0126-nerd::emoticon-0126-nerd::emoticon-0126-nerd:what has malky done apart from finishing mid table even with the best goal scorer in the league at watford, he wont do anything for cardiff will their departed team, there are better managers out there that can do a good job that will take three or four years to achieve anything, whoever gets the job will have the job of steadying the ship and keeping the club in the championship for a few seasons before any ambition of top flight football will ever be a possibility. the new manager will have to build his team over time for that to happen..

I would not say no to Malky....but he really would be about choice 3 or 4 surely.

Hughton and DiMatteo first choice.......I think we know it will be one of them! The board is interviewing everybody but I reckon it still will be one of these two.

Exactly how I feel, would be happy to see him here but even if there was no compo involved would prefer Hughton or Di Matteo.

Agreed, Hughton would be my choice but there are a few good managers out there, I wouldn't say no too.

Blimey what do they put in that Welsh water? Listen plumbs I am not comparing Watford's fortunes with Cardiff's. If you want me to I'll point out 1 fact :

Watford's player wage budget for the last couple of years has been around £10m ALL IN. This has ranked us as one of the smallest 3 clubs in the division. In season 10/11 it is widely agreed our player wage budget was 2nd smallest, only Scunthorpe was smaller. Whereas Cardiff's player wage budget was up there with the biggest, in excess of £30m. Put simply its like comparing Manchester City and Wigan.

From our ranking as "Relegation certainties" Malky MacKay has defied the odds and delivered good performances and good results on the pitch which has just seen us finish 14th - i.e. 9 (NINE) places above our ranking. If Dave Jones had delivered this success Cardiff would have won the title in either of the last 2 years.

I have no doubt MacKay will leave Watford - with our blessing and gratitude - because he has done so well. I wont bore you with Watford's current problems, but our club "owner" is actually a bankrupt. Fit and Proper Person????? My Arse!

So acknowledging the fact that MacKay will leave at some point, I expect him to go to a Premier League side - Cardiff are not a Premier League side, they have not been in the top flight of English football since John Toshack was playing I believe.

Put all of this together makes me a realistic football supporter, not a WUM/Troll/Idiot. If Cardiff strike it lucky and MacKay agrees to join you, I would expect Cardiff to be promoted in the next 2 years.

And in answer to the question about Watford not being the most salubrious place, every area has good and bad areas - we all know Cardiff's bad areas. Have a look at my location - there are some fine properties in my locale, and I'm not looking to swap.

Having lived in both Watford and Cardiff there is no comparison. The best postcode to live in Britain is in Loudwater and amongst the worst is Splott. In football terms Cardiff is a step backwards if Mackay chooses to go there, if Cardiff do not get promoted within a couple of seasons your owner will do a bunk and you'll be liquidated and as a club spending well above its means thats exactly what you deserve.

It seems to me that you might know more about house prices than football...Wrong board I think you’re looking for a monopoly board.

Moves around a bit doesn't he? Cardiff, Watford, Aberdeen. One step ahead of the bailiffs or what?

Where's Proph? He can put him right on his beloved Splott.

Anyway one thing we're all agreed on is Malky is one of the best up and coming managers.

He has kept Watford in the same division as "big spending" Cardiff, and believe me that is one great job. I wish Malky all the best in the Premier League as that's where he's heading - if he wants to stop off at Cardiff on the way I'd say he was wasting time, but that's just my opinion.

It is obvious Malky can find a decent place to live (if Cardiff pay him what he's worth), so let's not get into a game of "my house is better than yours" (cos I would trump the lot of you! LOL).
