If mick didn't want the Ireland job he wouldn't have put the release clause in his contract. If they want him the only stumbling block will be if Ireland will pay our compensation
Wright - the release clause was removed in the summer apparently. Presumably they saw this coming and bumped up his salary as a result. MON may still take it - no-one is in any hurry to get this resolved - but if he doesn't it's clearly going to be MM.
Please lets not have another Tisdale debate on these boards - I havent been on the wrong end of a JWM rant for a few months now and I dont want that to restart Ps Tisdale would get my vote!
I am sooooooo tempted...... Ah well what the hell.... Deep breath and here goes...! What the hell has Tisdale ever done in his limited career that would justify him coming to a big club like ours? He's done jack basically! He hasn't led Exeter to back to back promotions has he? Next you'll be wanting that other non-entity Karl Robinson! Sorry no offence TB just couldn't resist! But you knew that all along!
What had Sir Alf, Sir Bobby and Burley won before the took the hotseat ?? And why the sudden abandon of the morals and ethics of what made this club great? especially when you are as frustrated (among others) with the route this club has been taking for the past decade.. In my opinion.. (just my opinion) when Mick leaves, whenever that may be we should be looking to bring in a manager who will be able to really develop this club in the long term... someone with potential to not only achieve great things on the pitch but mould us as a club that is based on the doing things the correct way and will be here for the long haul. For me Tisdale epitomizes that perfectly.. has a great philosophy (not just football) and has stuck by his club because of his promise to the chairman. He has also turned down 2 advances (two) from Swansea.. and you can't say they've made a bad managerial choice in recent years and we would probably all aspire to the Swansea model in someway... Obviously this is dependent on whether he would come here and in answer to you Warky... I genuinely think he could be destined for things bigger and better than us so it could be down to whether he would would to come to such a 'Big club' as ours when he will be getting far better opportunities elsewhere
If you're holding out for a manager who has previously won something then I fear you may well be disappointed...
Tisdale or Robinson would get my vote, not trying to get a rise out of JWM, just think with the ground work that's been put in by MM it would be a good time to put a younger less experience manager in the hot seat. We need to remember we are only a middle of the road championship side these days....well for now anyway.!
Not a problem JWM I was expecting that kinda reply which is why I put the comment - been way to friendly recently! Actually Tisdale has actually been promoted 5 times as a manager. My input now stops - Im happy with MM as a manager and only really want to restart that round of threads when we actually require a new boss.
Alright then as we are speculating on something that probably will not happen, why not go for Richard Money who is doing a fantastic job at cash strapped Cambridge Utd? 15 games unbeaten and top of the conference by 6 points with a GD of +17. A great bloke and a great football man! If he gets Cambridge promoted this season why not go for him? Cambridge weren't fancied by anyone to do well this year. I have seen them a couple of times this season and they play some really good football.
Yeah it was a toss up between watching Cambridge or watching Town if I'm honest! Watching Cambridge costs a lot less! have to visit my mum though so Town it is!
Money actually has a decent record and has had some interesting jobs according to his Wiki page Thats all I can go on as i know very little about him. I read earlier this season about how Cambridge are thought to have 1 of the bigger budgets in the league, although their chairman denied it. As much as I think MM has done a wonderful job and was the right appointment I always seem to prefere it when we take a chance. It seems to fit better with out community/ family appeal, although we are fast losing that aswell.
I agree JWM, we shouldn't have appointed Bobby or Alf or Burely because they hadn't won anything as managers!!! Hasn't Mick been relegated as many times as Tisdale has but achieved less promotions??? for me it's Alex Ferguson all the way, he's free and I believe he has won something.... Happy Birthday btw
Mick has never been relegated If this Tisdale is meant to be good then why are Exeter in League 2! Has Tisdale ever managed higher than League 1? Er no!
