Well all I can say is thank god we are returning to Proper football this weekend. I know some will disagree with me but I get soooo bored when we have an international break! Now it's back to the rough and tumble of the Championship with the visit of surprise Table Toppers Burnley to Portman Road tomorrow. After the 2 draws Town picked up on their travels before the break (one of which felt more like a defeat) we now face a Burnley side who will be full of confidence and will present us with a real test. Their inform front 2 of Ings and Vokes will be a real handfull and it will be up to our Defensive unit to repel them. I gather that Tommy Smith may well be injured and so I would imagine that Elliott Hewitt will come into the side at Right Back allowing Luke Chambers to partner Berra in Central Defence. He will be more than comfortable in that role and so I have no real concerns if this was to happen. The last time we played Burnley at Portman Road last season we ground out a nervy 2-1 win with a DJ Campbell beauty settling the result in our favour with 10 mins left. This time around I see yet another nervy win as our home form is very good and I think that MM will be looking for us to impose ourselves on them early doors like we did against Brighton. Town 2 Burnley 1 Dids Cresswell Ings COYB
Town 1 - 3 Burnley Can't see us getting much from this... would love to be proved wrong though.. A decent performance but our disjointed and unbalanced attack will simply be outshone by Burnley's offensive form in what is an even 90 minutes
The last time Burnley beat us at Portman Road was in January 1970 and in 14 meetings between us at Portman Road since then we have won 7 and drawn 7! Of course we will have to play well but we shouldn't be fearing any team in this league especially one with such a poor record against us at home! Just think back to Brighton when we were given no chance before the game!
Hoppers, I'm meeting up with some family before the game but if I get time I will pop into Rileys! Otherwise I will be in the Sir Bobby Upper
Warky, I will probably have one in the bar in the corner if SBR upper 15mins B4 KO, might see you there.!
Would love a win but will be happy with a point. Not an easy match but we do seem to be able to compete against most teams these days I will go away from the normal with a 2-1 win. Skuse and Berra for Town.
I'm going for a 2-0 win with this forum going delirious about a promotion challange afterwards!!! Is it bad I'm sort of pleased to see Smith pick up a knock (as long as it's not a bad one), as i've wanted to see a Chambers, Berra partnership with Hewitt at RB for a while.
I do agree... although it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he put Mings in at centre half alongside Berra and kept Chambo at RB... just to be bloody awkward Though the chance to see Chambo and Berra at the back with Cressy and Hewitt at full backs would be good to see
Town 5-1 Burnley I actually think this is gonna be a shock result and bring Burnley crashing down to earth.
Going on some of our previous, ie.ability to mix it with those at the top and lose to the cellar dwellers I'm plumping for a 3-1. Murphy,Dids,Skuse. Come on boys.
Well, have booked a ticket and will travel up from south coast...could be the defining game of the season. A surprising resounding win will put us in amazing place and confidence to head on up to top 6 by Xmas. An underperforming disjointed, muddled MM tactics and subs blah blah...will see us steady and then wobble to dull mid-table. I share others spirit and optimism and am going for 2-1...a...e -tight and difficult. Get in early goal...and lets see some fireworks, passion and an in form crowd too! Any you guys fancy a pint before the game at friendly local PR pub. Give me the name...I dont know them at all well, and I'll be there by 1.30.
OK Warky & co.. I hope to be there between 1.30 - 2.30. I am the bloke with def grey hair and beard but still cuts a dash!
