Almost as upsetting as trying to oust Hodgson, it provides another platform for Peter Herbert of the Black Lawyers Association to stir up more hatred, a vile detestable rat of a man
That seems to have been the intenton, but I've seen no-one who actually thinks Hodgson is a racist. If anything, this incident has increased the public's sympathy for him. It shows what a gentleman he is that this is the only 'dirt' they can dig up on him.
You are right. I heard Danny Murphy speak particularly eloquently about Hodgson today, saying how he always had time for every player and even laid on an extra coaching session for players he had left out the week before.
This is a typical garbage story by the Sun... and if I ever bought that rag I would stop immediately... problem is I don't so they will not notice my boycott! I hope whatever scumbag leaked the story will spend the summer on holiday with whatever passes as his wife/girlfriend rather than in Brazil with proper England players!
You should hear some of my jokes! Even Combat 18 banned me for 'going over the top'. I'd love to get on a radio show with Jason Roberts, but I can't, for I'm on some sort of list...
I thought it was some sort of banning order? This story has done NOTHING for racism in football! We all know there are still problems with unacceptable behaviour from some fans and a small amount of players BUT this story will put anti racism efforts back years in this Country!
I remember listening to 606 on the night it all kicked off with Jason Roberts. He got into a heated argument with a fan on air, who called him an 'Uncle Tom'. The comment went straight over Robert's head. Discussions obviously took place during the news break, because Mark Chapman (?) then announced profuse apologies for the phrase being uttered live on air, admitting that he knew what it meant and should have cut the caller off. Roberts definitely said he had not heard the phrase before, but you could tell that he was steaming. From then on, never a week went by without the guy bringing race onto the show, it got so bad that you almost felt some callers rang him up to get him going, Ouseley ended up in the House of Lords on the back of it and Paul Elliott got a nice six figure income, so clearly there is a niche in the market. Personally I find it despicable.
I thought Danny Welbeck was one of our best players against both Montenegro and Poland, and playing out of position too. Missed a sitter, true, but Rooney and Sturridge both missed chances not a lot more difficult. Not yet 23, he still has plenty of time to improve. Sometimes got that "Bambi on ice" look like Shola Ameobi, but that is because he hasn't reached physical maturity yet. Fergie was an excellent judge of a young player. Very few of the "brilliant" youngsters he willingly let go have ever amounted to much. Sturridge is the one I worry about. Plenty of speed and footwork but totally brainless and selfish. Two years older than Welbeck and should be better by now. Could turn out to be another Sordell. We can't play with four strikers in Brazil so I can see him stepping down to accommodate Townsend.
I suppose my take on the whole thing is that I can't work out the context of this remark as I was'nt in the changing room, and I suspect the reporters who sent this story on it's way probably were'nt either. It's unacceptable to be a racist, and in a management position it becomes even more rankly unacceptable. Given that the obvious slant here was always going to be to imply the England manager is a racist, the slur is horrible. The player who leaked this one should hang his head in shame. As they said in the Telegraph today, Hodgeson probably has a small part of the blame to shoulder for using such a weird allegory at half time for a bunch of footballers who are notoriously not the brains trust of the country. Keep is short and to the point. However, that a so-called patriotic John-bull rag like the sun should attempt to urinate on this particular parade is just embarassing. How long do we have to wait before the Sun follows the NOTW into journalistic oblivion?
"The 'innocent remark' made out of ignorance is sadly a common feature of football," said Peter Herbert, the head of the Society of Black Lawyers... "A letter of complaint from a pressure group has been sent to the Football Association demanding that Hodgson attend a 'race appreciation' training course" 'We are using the appropriate complaints procedure to urge the FA to provide mandatory 'race appreciation' training and 'cultural capital and cultural intelligence' training to Roy Hodgson' The fact that anyone or organisation that engages with these idiots just give them some credence that there is a problem when they are the only problem. Fans should boycott "Kick it out days" then clubs would soon get the message that we only want football without politics.
I don't think so, AllHell. Most people have immediately seen what is going on here. The main problem is not the PC lobby being over-zealous (although that is certainly a factor) but the despicable level to which journalism has sunk in this country. This article by David Bond, BBC Sports Editor, is both mischievous and moronic. The only "remaining question" is how ****-stirring scum like that hold down a highly paid job at the public expense: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24570301
Disappointingly Mark Bright has also got his twopen'orth in, saying he would like to have had a quiet word with Hodgson. Townsend himself says that he took the joke as a compliment, so maybe now he'll get hauled up to the Race Appreciation Training Course or even the hanging court.
Garth Crooks is currently preparing a 10,000 word thesis on the subject, ready for his one min slot on Final Score later.
I will never wear a kick it out badge, never have, never will. I recall a story a conversation I had once at university with a reluctantly white middle class ponce who failed his humanities degree. "Oi Typ you coming on an anti racism march tomorrow in Central London?" " no I can't be bothered" "sh't typ, we can't let these scum on our streets" "what scum?" "You know the sort, white people" about 30 people went on the coach the next day, I think 29 of them went shopping in Oxford Street.
If Mark Bright was white, would he ever have got a media deal from the BBC ? No. As it is, even with an employer as achingly right on and PC as the Marxist Beeb, Bright still managed to get the sack as a pundit last year for being too bland
