"Roy Hodgson: England boss and players angry over team-talk furore

Roy Hodgson says he and his players are angry that England's World Cup qualification has been overshadowed by the furore surrounding comments he made during Tuesday's game against Poland.
Hodgson was criticised for referring to a joke about a monkey and an astronaut at half-time in the 2-0 win, which secured England's 2014 World Cup place.
The Football Association moved quickly on Thursday to back the England boss.
"Joy is short-lived in this job," Hodgson told the Daily Mail on Friday.
"The players are as angry about this as I am.
"We have just had a successful period and, although I wouldn't suggest we intend to rest on our laurels, I think we have earned the right to enjoy the fruits of our labours. Instead we get this."
Hodgson was reported to have referenced the joke when trying to explain to right-back Chris Smalling that he needed to pass the ball to winger Andros Townsend more.
The joke, the exact wording of which is still unclear, revolves around an astronaut and a monkey on a Nasa mission. The monkey performs all the tasks requested by mission control, with the punchline being that the astronaut's only role is to feed the monkey.
While Hodgson later apologised for any offence he had unintentionally caused, Townsend, 22, tweeted: "I don't know what all this fuss is about. No offence was meant and none was taken!"
Anti-racism campaigners Kick It Out called for the FA to investigate the comments, but considered the matter closed after the governing body released a statement in support of Hodgson and adding it had not received any complaints from England players.
"Roy Hodgson is a man of the highest integrity, an honourable man who is doing a great job with the England team," said FA chairman Greg Dyke.
"He has fully explained to us what he said and the point he was making to the players in the dressing room at half-time on Tuesday night. He has also explained the context in which he made his remarks."
England striker Wayne Rooney also showed his support for 66-year-old Hodgson on Twitter and via his personal website: "To try and pin some form of label on him is absolutely ridiculous.
"Roy spoke to Andros straight away and he took no offence whatsoever. Hopefully that's now the end of the matter."
Prior to the FA's statement of support for Hodgson, Piara Powar, executive director of Football Against Racism in Europe (Fare), told the BBC that the England boss had got it wrong.
"This was a silly phrase to use in a diverse workforce," he said."

Maybe not according to the Big Black Cock but according to the ****er that wrote it, it was a player.
How many times do I have to say it? I heard the interview with the journo, he insisted it was a player.

there's NO need to get pissy, just cos you're propping up the table. <smirk>
well if it was a player, I'd be well pissed if I was Roy... that player shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the dressing room.

Not really sure why you're having such a problem with this tbh.

You said, quite rightly, "Anti-racism campaigners Kick It Out called for the FA had not received any complaints from England players."

How does that affect what players have been saying to the media/twittering/texting etc?

Surely, the two things aren't connected are they?

It sounds like a player repeating something funny to a journalist, I thought it was reasonably funny if he'd been talking about any player.

so let me get this correct, you're saying that the information was accrued from player's twitters accounts, or the player had gone to The Sun instead of going to the manager? well if that's the case it is an internal matter and should be dealt with accordingly - discipline, etc.

    I've no idea what happened.

I'm simply saying that just because the FA haven't received a complaint it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
