But the analogy he used was clearly about a monkey, an actual monkey, not a metaphor or euphemism for anything else and anyone who interprets it as something else must surely be guilty of mis-interpretation. Anyone who automatically construes the use of the word 'monkey' as being racist - such as our despicable media - surely must harbour some kind of deep lying prejudice themselves, no?
i did - his name is troy. and he spoke to his son about the incident and we all know andros said it was a 'non story'.
Agreed. But in "the eyes of the law" it's not always an excuse. As for your second sentence, see point (1). It is very suspect, but then our press hardly have the best rep... The point is that Hodgson is smart enough to know better. As Hughton points out, it's clearly not an issue, but if it had been, it's good that it is called out.
Just spoken with somone at work (who actually does happen to be a detective) and she is 100% convinced that it was Jermaine Defoe who leaked the information. Apparently the journalist (Gordon Smart) who broke the 'story' is a friend of his who has written lots of celeb pieces about Defoe and Alexandra Burke. He was on Talksport yestedray and has confirmed it was a player who was the source, and who actually approached him with the information, and all evidence points to Defoe.
I was told that too. Not surprising really, as a Tottenham player. Best that the whole thing is forgotten quickly.
This whole issue is ****ing silly, If anything this incident actually harms the anti racism campaign than helps it because people are going to get pissed off with this over protective PC society. If anybody should be pissed it should be Chris Smalling because Roy was saying he has less intelligence than a Monkey!
Having heard the latest on SSN, it's a wonder Roy hasn't told them all where to stick their job. Some people and their organisations seem hellbent on putting him down. Apparently all league managers should now go on a racial awareness course
I heard some fool on Talk****e this morning from the "Society of Black Lawyers" saying that they would not let it drop and would press for a full investigation and appropriate action. He said that peoples perception of racial abuse is wrong and just because neither Townsend or Smalling we offended it doesn't mean that others in the room were not......... Jeeeezz what is the world coming too. This is the one occasion where the FA is spot on, you have to be so careful these days.
Isn't an organisation calling itself the "Society Of Black Lawyers" inherantly racist? What would be the reaction I wonder if we had an organisation called the "Society Of White Lawyers"? This is just Grandstanding and will do far more damage to the KIO campaign then it will good! 1 Spurs fan was arrested the other week for using the Y word and yet a whole section of West Ham fans were using the N word and not one of them was arrested! I am so glad that the FA and wider authorities have got their priorities right! The Police are too busy defending their own tarnished reputation at the moment then upholding Public order and the Law it seems!
all this organisation is doing is potentially turning people against the KIO campaign, they are pouring petrol on a flame and making a very important subject some sort of properganda exercise for themselves everytime.
the worst of it for me is that someone,in a position which most of us would give our right arms to be in namley representing the nation in a world cup, could at the moment of qualifacation, think that the best thing to do on hearing his MANAGER make an obviously innocent remark,is phone the sun. truly unbelivable. if this person is that thin skinned to be offended by that(good job he has not worked at some of the places i have worked over the last 35 years!) he should have done what any decent(and real) man would have done and had a private word with roy. surely it could not be he hasnt got the balls?
The stupid thing is that the only people making a reference to the colour of townsends skin, are the ones that are crying racism.
