Yeahyeah, I think we can agree on this. We'll see in 2014 how everybody will do.

I dont know why everyone is moaning. The chances are we might now draw Switzerland, who most people seem to think are worse than us, when we couldve drawn Italy or Holland. England defo dont deserve to be in the top 8 seeds so surely having a supposed weaker team in amongst the seeds is a very, very good thing for us indeed.

    I think it's ****ing great.

Surely it's the reverse if you are a top seed though? You'd get a weaker team from the second pot?

Past history says we get through the first stages and than maybe the next round and then we get knocked out.

Lets face it, the days when England players where proud to wear the shirt are long gone. Most of them are overpaid pansies. I never see any of them busting a gut to kill the opposition (Peter Reid, Bryan Robson, Nobby Stiles, Stu Pearce, Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith etc)
It is all about money, FFS £50K + a week for shagging some other guys missus or entertaining older ladies etc etc

Anyway, it will be the same this time as it was every other time. We build them up in a frenzy of flags and other ****e and then they **** up and we all say didn't we do well to get through the first round etc etc.

With the money these pansies get paid we should expect a minimum of a semi-final. After all, we have the best league in the world with the most competition.

    Come on Engerland

    Eh?
There is no way we deserve to be in the top seeds ahead of Holland or Italy.
Everyone is saying Switzerland are relatively ****e so we want to play them.
If they were in the 2nd seeded group along with us we couldn't play them and instead we could face Holland or Italy, the latter who were finalists in their last tournament, absolutely murdering us on the way.

If you are in the top seeds, you are more likely to get an easy draw than a hard one. If you are in the unseeded pots, its the reverse.

Mind you, it's relative to what you consider to be 'easy'. The top two in each group qualify, so if we can beat the other two teams and get a point or two against the top seed, it shouldn't be a problem. Even if we get somebody like Brazil or Argentina, at least it means we won't be meeting them in the knockout stages.

For ****s sake... So why is everyone saying Switzerland dont deserve to be in there at the expense of Holland or Italy? Is it cos they think Switzerland are better than Italy and Holland OR because they think they're worse than them?

We could have a group of Switzerland and 2 relatively ****e teams now and it would be a dream, whereas if Italy or Holland were in the top seeds we'd be guaranteed at least one very tough team.

What makes Italy, Holland and England better than Switzerland.

Surely the rankings should represent teams on their current international side, which Switzerland have had a good run far better than any of the other three teams i've mentioned.

The rankings can't be done on reputation alone, or players alone. Its done on results, as it should be.

I aagree. My point is everyone moaning about the seeding and saying Switzerland dont deserve top rank should actually be happy that we can now face the Swiss. The supposed flawed system has potentially helped us based on their opinion.

I know what Bum Chins saying, I think, he's wondering why people are crowing about how Switzerland are a top seed ahead of teams like England, Holland or Bosnia (who I believe are far better than Italy so should be mentioned instead) because England deserve to be a 2nd pot team, and having ze Swiss in there means we have a chance of drawing a not world class top seed in our group.

Personally I think it's a ****ing travesty and both the Swiss and the Belgians should be docked points or just moved to 2nd pot to put England and Holland in the seeding in the best interest of the tournament. Everyone wants to se the biggest and best teams battling it out in the knockouts, not these crappy minor nations like Switzerland or Belgium, so the top nations should get the biggest advantage to help ensure that happens.

Also we invented the fecking game, if anyone deserves a seeding its us and we shouldn't even need to go trough qualification either.

What do you mean 'you think you know' what I mean? It's ****ing textbook common sense. You'll all be ****ing whooping and hollering like Yankee ****s at a Ryder Cup if we get drawn in the Swiss group.

All hail FIFA's rankings guiding us to a World Cup win on foreign soil!

At first glance it did seem you were saying we should be happy about being pot 2 as now we have a chance if drawing Switzerland rather than being in pot 1 where we could have drawn Italy or Holland.

Well, it'll be nice to see if you are happy that we are in Pot 2 when we draw Spain...or Germany...or Brazil...or Argentina...

I'd be quite pleased with Germany or Argentina... As I said before unfinished business...

Also, I know the chances of us winning this World Cup are minimal, but should we win a World Cup, it would be more complete with a victory over the Germans, the Argies or the French. Better to beat 2 of them or better yet to beat all 3, knocking them out the knockouts preferably, but the group stage will do.

As we're probably not going to win it, games against any of those 3 would at least bring some proper excitement to the competition rather than victories against Switzerland, Costa Rica and Algeria to win the group, a 1st knockout round victory against Ghana then get knocked out by Belgium. That would just be ****ing boring.

But we could draw them anyway if Holland or Italy had been top seeded, so it's of no ****ing consequence.

Or are you seriously suggesting that England should've been in the top seeds?

It's the first time in a while were I don't see Spain as clear favourites. It should be a good tournament.
