I know Rangers fans never saw it but Rob Hulse was an excellent player who enjoyed a largely successful career. As a Crewe based Rangers fan, I saw a great deal of him in his earlier years when the partnership he developed with Dean Ashton was truly outstanding, admittedly at lower league level. Whilst Ashton deservedly earned widespread recognition, Hulse was in many respects the underrated partner. In his time with Sheffield United he reputedly was on the verge of selection for the England squad and despite his increasing injury record was a persistent performer - and scorer - throughout his career with Derby. OK he was probably an old croc by the time we got him - he's not alone in that respect - and was I would suggest one of those many "calculated gambles" that just did not come off. Wish him well in his new career.
I had preferred him this season over Zamora. Yeah people often make jokes about him but he tried his best so good luck to him in his new career.
He cant be worse than Zamora this year unless he lost every single challenge and gave the ball away every single time. Even then, he can only be as bad as Zamora, the only way he could be worse was scoring OGs. Zamora couldnt even keep the ball in the corner FFS! Twice he lost it cleanly against Huddersfield IIRC and the other time he tried to kick it off one of their players and just booted it straight out of play. ITs literally wasnt even Sunday morning Div 8 while hungover standard.
I was there when he scored for us - not many of you can say that AND - I HAD A BET ON THAT HE WOULD SCORE FIRST (& WON) I hasten to add I used to bet on paul Parker to score first at 33/1 most week I hasten to add I am poor
