Why do people believe in it?

Theres **** all there to believe in.

I was christened, worst thing me mum ever did in my life.

How many times, have i been to church since my christening?

2 ****ing marriages (both ended in divorce)
4 Funerals, all family members(who never went to church)

Bury me in the ****ing back Garden & save **** loads of money.

And do not preach to some **** who aint ever ****ing lived.

depends what mood im in really. it'll probably change day to day.

Some people chose to believe in a religion because it can be seen as beneficial to them, or maybe they've had an experience which has converted them to believing in that religion.

There is nothing that conclusively disproves that existence of God or any other higher power. Similarly, there is also nothing which conclusively proves that God etc. does in fact exist. It is important to remember that other people may believe in something completely different to you.

Whilst I am in no way religious myself, I have the utmost respect for the followers of ANY religion, because that is a choice they've made

 

For he who has faith, no proof is necessary. For he who does not have faith, no proof is possible.

Then there is the Agnostic, who is in limbo.

 

You'll need to be careful with that, as if you get really extreme one day, there probably wont be any more days

Because they are brianwashed from childhood to believe in 'something' and also because people fear death and they think that they need to believe that there is more to existance than their current life.

God is supposed to be omnipotent. If He is omnipotent, then He can create a rock so big that He can't pick it up. If He cannot make a rock like this, then He is not omnipotent. If He can make a rock so big He can't pick it up, then He isn't omnipotent either. Either way demonstrates that God cannot do something. Therefore God is not omnipotent. Therefore God does not exist.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. The world would be a much better place without it, it ****ing sickens me.
