Is a joy at the moment. I hope I do not hex them but uncle Roy is getting them playing some fantastic football. I can't remember the last time we looked so positive.
Yes Roy has them playing on the front foot. Baines and Townsend over Cole and Walcott any day. Only pity is the atmosphere - another FA cock-up. C'mon Roy's England
Still massively unconvinced by Welbeck (who seems to have forgotten how to shoot), but can't have any real complaints about the two performances. It's bizarre - can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching England!
Agree Surly. And well done Roy - I think he enjoyed that:
Great performance. Here is a manager who inspires confidence in the unfashionable. Confidence first, ability second, tactics third,.with us there is ability but the other two are definatly not there.
Can't believe Townsend was on loan with QPR last season. He's been England's best player in the last 2 games by a country mile! Maybe we should send a couple of our fringe players on loan up the road?!
Hope that's tongue in cheek Bobby. The other good thing about last night was the egg on 'Arry's face.
Of course C58. I wonder what would be the state of the England team and whether we would have qualified if 'Arry was in charge?
I feel that there was egg on more faces than just "Arry". The pundits Lineker especially, who have never proved themselves in management should keep their big mouths shut. At least Arry said Roy has a tactical know how very few have.
"Flying Down to Rio" with Roy the Redeemer please log in to view this image Roy's great strength is that he keeps it simple. Plays players in positions that they are comfortable with and makes sure they know the job expected of them. Wasn't it strange that after years of "Gerrard and Lampard can't play together" claims, the pundits were criticising him (before the game) for 'dropping' Lampard.
To be fair, for years Lampard and Gerrard couldn't play well together. Lampard has changed his game in the last two or three years, and that's what has made the difference for that combination. I don't think that one is down to Roy. However, I completely agree that it's good to see Roy doing well with England. Of course, if we lose the next game all the knives will be out for him again.
