Zaha still probably available on loan...we'd need to buy Livermore though.

We have an option to buy Livermore if we stay up. Buying him would only free up a loan spot as you point out. Our main issue is a good striker. If we were going to buy someone why not just buy the striker we need and keep Livermore on loan. Buying Livermore to get someone like Zaha wouldnt solve the striker issue. If it was me I would just make one purchase come January which is a lot less difficult to work out than buying two (Livermore and the striker) and getting another one on loan(Zaha). If we could work out a good striker on loan then buying Livermore would make sense but there are not normally good strikers to get in on loan come January. Plus that loan deal would be contingent on getting Livermore signed now and we all know how teams like to leave everthing to the last minuet. Do we really want to risk having to make a series of deals with the clock running down? I wouldnt think we would.

I think you are spot on there, ellewoods; although you inadvertently paint a Monty Pyphonesque vision of the clubs moving in 3/4 time at the 'Last Dance Saloon' of player deals. <laugh>

Morrison is, and always will be, a world-class prick. Unless he turns out to be really, really, really good, then the full England team will be better off without his cancerous presence.

Still feel that we could do with a tricky right winger, Elmo has been fairly poor so far and we don't have any alternatives to switch it up

Bit harsh, I'd say he's been alright, but like you say maybe that's for want of a better player. Sunderland fans did say he was probably a top end Championship player when we signed him and not suited to the PL, but he's certainly not been our worst performer. His crosses from deep are a nuisance for defences, it's just his defending that seems to let him down.

He hasn't been dreadful but when in defence he has conceded at least 3 goals, and when in midfield he takes every cross early instead of hitting the by-line form time to time, he is too predictable for defenders

I don't think you can complain about the early crossing. It obviously works otherwise defenders wouldn't keep chucking people on the floor for soft penalties every time he whips one in.

Why would we want to buy Holloway's biggest diver of last season when we spent all of last season having a go at him and the team he played for. Add to that the amount of cars he purchased between him signing for United and leave Palace - which shows him to have a huge ego and big time Charlie attitude.
And what does that give us - a player I hope Mr Bruce spends precisely 0 seconds considering as a possible signing in January.
