Stolen from F1Racing. please log in to view this image I thought this was fascinating - from the outside, it looks like Button is extracting everything from a car that just doesn't have the performance, but it seems there's a lot more time to be found in the car and Button needs to be pushed. So perhaps with a top driver alongside Button, the team could have had multiple podiums this year? Retaining Perez for next season could mean that once again, Button doesn't perform at his best. It would explain why they've been going after Alonso for 2014 despite the chances of it happening looking almost impossible. Maybe it's worth McLaren taking a gamble on a faster driver like Massa, or an impressive rookie like Magnussen.
Perez really doesn't bleong at McLaren, he's there on the back of 2 very fortunate podiums that were the result of well timed pit stops.
