Interesting A constructive dismissal case has been brought by a former Liverpool chauffeur sacked for allegedly swearing at former Reds striker Andy Carroll. Dave Sloan told an employment tribunal that he had flown to Ibiza with a visa for Carroll so that he could join the Reds’ US tour. But he was later sacked for swearing at Carroll three times during the Ibiza trip, smoking outside the team bus and causing disruption at the club’s Chapel Street headquarters, the Daily Mail reports. Sloan claims that despite being told that he should not approach Carroll who was upset by his behaviour, when he asked the player about the incident he laughed it off. He said: “I was told not to approach the player Andy Carroll because I’d upset him. “But I did approach him and he knew nothing about it. He actually laughed it off.” He claims he was actually sacked for attempting to whistle-blow on alleged illegal activities being conducted by Liverpool player liaison boss Ray Haughan (pictured). During his duties, he often went to a cash machine on behalf of Haughan. He says a £40,000 increase in his boss’ bank balance gave him cause for concern. He told the tribunal: “I had suspicions that ticket touting was going on. “I was worried about the repercussions but there were fans not getting tickets and someone inside the club making money out of it and that was wrong. “Ray Haughan asked me to go to the cashpoint and I noticed a different amount of money. I went to see Peter Shaw (executive) to discuss what I had heard from Frank Firth (security – about black market tickets), what I’d seen in the bank account and my suspicions.”
