If Fletcher is anywhere near fit he will play him, he needs his best team out and reading between the lines I think he's going for the win. Probably 4-4-2 with Jozy & Fletch up top.
We are in no position to rest players tbh but I'd keep him on the bench Saturday and give him 20 mins to run the cobwebs off for the following weekend. I think it's great to have him back but we can afford to ease him back so he us fit for the remaining games this season. His and Catts fitness and ability to play the majority of games is absolutely key to our survival this season IMO and we can I'll afford either to miss any more games between now and at least January.
I agree with you. Poyet has nothing to lose by going for a win in his first game has he? Whatever the result it will set us up perfectly for the derby. A win and we'll be full of it, a loss and the players will need to prove to the supporters that they were right to want Di Canio out. Just got me tickets confirmed, if I can find some flights it's all good ......... the question is, do I book a Thursday return and go to the League Cup match The next question is, what will our lass say .............
I was back for Arsenal & West Brom mate ....... give us a break I was happy to stay when I thought I had a chance with Hull tickets but now I'm not sure ........ Southampton isn't that tempting but my lads are cooing me in.
back to the subject - am I the only 1 who thinks Fletcher is distinctly average? We were robbed by a relegated team IMHO!!!! Bart
are you joking? he is an excellent striker. his finishing is top notch and his conversion rate is really good. he could easily be a 15+ a season striker
Hope you are right and I am wrong - though I doubt it!!! But I do sincerely hope that I am wrong and he does get 15+ goals - coz thats what we need Bart
he has one of the best conversion rates from shots to goals in the league. if he played for one of the big clubs he would be classed as one of the best in the league imo
I rate Fletcher massively mate and always have done for the past 4 years. He is an excellent striker with a conversion rate second to none and generally is a quality footballer too. If we can improve the service to him he is easily a 15 goal + a season striker. Easily.
your right he hasnt had the service he deserves since being here. for most of that though hes was playing under mon piss poor tactics. hopefully we play better football under gus and he gets a hatfull
If we play football on the ground and get decent delivery into the box, both Altidore and Fletcher will benefit and of course ultimately so will SAFC. I think those 2 are a good balance of style and technique and capable of being an effective and powerful strike-force.
If he's fully fit he has to play every game he can for you in the league. If he's mostly fit he has to play some part in games but not be risked unduly. If he's not fit then he needs to be rested. He's a quality player who would get in most premiership teams (and I initially thought he was too expensive but you certainly seem to have got your moneys worth) and deserves a bit of luck with his injuries. I'm still confident you'll stay up this year but think it does hinge on Fletcher staying fit. If you get 30 games out of him you'll be 11th-16th I reckon.
