Different type of player for me like. I'd pick Carrick if England were in position to control a game and id let him dictate the game. But any team who pile on the pressure I'd rather have Catts protecting the defence all day long. Big Carrick fan myself.

Of course pal, they both have their strengths and I wouldn't contest that. I've maintained Cattermole is a decent combative midfielder when he can control himself and avoid injury. Maybe Catts could play first half and Carrick 2nd <ok>

My gripe was only with the 'plank' comment, I don't mind if people don't prefer his style or whatever but there's no denying he's effective at what he does.

I think he's a very good player myself, worldclass in fact. Never understood the **** he gets. He's an unglamourous player an an unglamorous position, it doesn't mean he's not doing a worldclass job. <ok>

He is a plank as that is what I think, an over rated plank.
Nothing to do with his roots.
He will have been taken off tonight as Poland were bypassing him at will.
    I don't rate him.
You roll out how many passes he made as if everyone of them was game winners.
How many of them were his usual panic passes to the nearest player who he gives the ball too leaving them under pressure? (He does this one hell of a lot.)
He is another space marker like our own Larsson. (Who himself is capable of an impressive pass now and then.)
When he actually runs it's like it is an after thought.
He more often than not gives team mates hospital balls.
You sound like the commentators on TV for England tonight, bigging him up when he managed to pass a ball to a team mate and ignoring when he miss passes or lets the oppos waltz past him.
He telegraphs passes and when put under pressure can't cope.
When allowed time and space he is just like any other player and can pick a pass doesn't make him world class.
The top players can make the passes whilst under pressure.
You aren't going to lose any sleep over my next comment but I honestly believe he is the weak link at Utd right now.
This may be a surprise to you but Utd games are shown none stop, as opposed to us having to hope for a stream.
I don't think I have missed one of Utds games.
By the way I would have took Welbeck off tonight and I like the lad, but his first touch was **** and his heading worse.

    PS>
I have a soft spot for Utd after being saved from the headhunters by some of your lads in my younger days.
