I was informed on saturday that the liberty stadium is suffering from subsidence (its sinking) and told the person he was taliking b@@l s**t. Then yesterday I heard the same thing off another more credible person. They both wouldn't know each other but they both said that the contractors were going to be sued and the stadium with increased capacity moved to Felindre, where they could have better rail and motorway links. I was wondering if anyone else had heard this rumour? I found it strange to hear this in such a short space of time and from two peolpe who don't have a serious intrest in the swans. I am confused dot com?
first by me but sounds like a nasty rumour..... c'mon I remember years ago when they said Gareth Thomas was gay and that Martinez would leave for the Prem. Just goes to prove you can't believe everything you here ! On the bright side - if it does subside surely that will make extending the current seating capacity easier what with seats below pitch level.
Yes the problem is the stadium should have been over by morrisons as that was the original plan, and of course larger, don't believe the better railway link angle as the train track is right next to the stadium now, better access at felindre obviously as the motorway is right there, but don't think any stadium can go there for a number of reasons, first the area is not suitable for a stadium as there would need to be major retail and hotel chains, another out of town retail park would not get approved. Secondly isn't there talk of having a super hospital there at some point? There would be a huge amount of opposition from the local area, and moving the Swans away from a central position would be a non starter I think, not quite sure where else a stadium could be built to be honest
If there is subsidence, then the most likely area effected would be the east stand, as it's close to the river, and you would start to see cracks in the partition walls, can't say I've seen any of this myself............... please log in to view this image
cant say i noticed any subsidence when i used to play football on the pitches before stadium was built! though i seem to remember there was issue with the morfa stadium when that was built, the running track apparently sunk down and it wasnt fit for purpose RE top athletics meetings ,just local /welsh athletic meetings. if there is a problem (which IMO i doubt) then there are so many ways and methods to under pin and solve the issue. of course if it turns out to be true then thank fook swans dont own it !! and of course there would be some serious compo issues as well . intresting story though, i think there are lots of mine shafts in them there hills in and around wales, maybe its the cardiff lot trying to tunnel in and watch prem football
I reckon it's just sly bitterness banter from that mob down the road - what better way to put the wind up the Swans than suggest that the Liberty Stadium was about to crumble and need relocation to the back of beyond way out of sight out of mind away from the city Centre = hmmmm, that reminds me of somewhere further eastwards than here!!!
I think this is a very cunning and clever play by our illustrious chairman after noticing how popular our season tickets were. Fake subsidence, sue the builders, get massive claim for damages and use that to either patch it up and add on a couple more thousand seats or if there is enough money, buy a new one. Therefore do not need to dip into the Premiership money we have received/going to receive which can go on a player or two just to make even more sure that we stay up. I for one will applaud Jenkins for this masterstroke....but we will have to keep it quiet as we cant have anyone else finding out lol
Faults and / or bad workmanship are good reasons for renting, not buying. property, cars - in fact you name it. You just pick up the telephone and say "sort it out!" to your landlord or vendor and they have the responsibility to put things right or pay you compensation. Canny move this renting business.
I have been trying to do some digging (pardon the pun) but the two individuals are ducking my phone calls......Honest if they were winding me up I am gonna send my four year old nephew round....a right little monster lol
Morning lads I would doubt very much if there is a subsidence problem due the fact that before that stadium was given the go ahead there would have been an in depth survey regarding any mining activity or faulting in the area,
