Big question is can we keep our recent brilliant run going and come away from Old Trafford with at least a point? Hopefully all our internationals will return from duty injury free and MP will have a full squad to choose from. They say never change a winning team but I'm sure Luke will be back if fit. Other than that I would probably go with the side that started against Swansea. My starting 11 Boruc Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw Morgan Victor Davis Rickie Lallana Dani Subs KD Chambers Maya JWP Cork Guly JRod United have definitely lost Fellaini and Cleverley pulled out of the England squad with an injury but still have plenty of riches to choose from! Although we have a resonabe record against United at home we haven't managed a win at Old Trafford since 1988 when Colin Clarke scored both goals in a 2-0 win. Let's hope this squad can do the business on Saturday and make it 5 wins and 6 clean sheets! COYR!
Please can you change the thread title? They aren't "United", they just one of three Uniteds in the league. It's a vanity that their legions of fans in Surrey have started. Please don't buy into it. Just because they do it doesn't mean we have to. Aaaaaghhhh! Sorry, I have to go and take my medicine now. Vin
And, back on solid ground, I am beginning to feel our squad settling and picking itself to a large extent - there's nothing I'd disagree with in your selection. While we might not have won against Manchester United away for a while, this has to be one of the best opportunities ever. They're unsettled and run the risk of fans turning on them if we hold them for a while. Given our defence's performance recently, that's a distinct possibility. Anyway, they're just another mid-table side we have to beat these days. Vin
I dreamt we won 3.0 and were top of the League....didn't believe it in my dream either and had to recheck. So no need to play it now.
Glad we haven't got one of the big name refs for this one! They always seem to favour Man United with the big decisions.
I'm not saying they're biased, I'm saying that visiting teams have been denied fairly clear penalties and United have been given soft ones.
Remember reading this from last season - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1489812-manchester-united-5-reasons-to-believe-referees-favor-manchester-united Warning, includes "facts" obtained by the Daily Mail
Think we have to keep our heads down on this one...we've escaped a couple of penalties this season. I am taking this to mean we are such a big club that the refs don't dare or they look at Nicola in the stands and wonder where their children are
Seems about right to me! Small sample size might be an issue, and consider those that are given for two yellows (technically both yellows must be correct for the red to be), but yeah, almost every red card is contentious.
Interestingly (and perhaps worryingly), Mike Jones was one of the most biased refs in favour of United in the league last season.
Ok here's the plan! 1. Firstly we need to win! 2. Improve our goal difference! 3. Liverpool and Arsenal need to lose or draw! 4. We sit triumphantly at the top of the league!
