I'm listening to talksport (shudder), and they are arguing about the England team. Must say I think Stan Collymore is second only to Gary Neville in terms of punditry/opinions.

Indeed he is. It's a shame that he is because he's actually a forthright speaker on sport and football in particular, and most of his comments bear listening to.

That doesn't mean his opinions on football aren't correct. He's bang on 99% of the time.

He doesn't have blistering pace, but i wouldn't call him slow either. His acceleration is very good, he is more than able to overtake his defender with his speed, strenght and guile.

Drogba is also a great forward, but i prefer Zlatan.

An Austrian politician once got in trouble because he said Hitler had some good employment policies.

Collymore might be a piece of work but he's not Hitler!

That's the only way to explain how his tactical genius was foiled

    Agreed.

As for his personal life, aren't people quick to judge others while really knowing very little?

Sorry but we know plenty. We know, for example, that he punched Ulrika Johnson and that he threatened to kill another of his girlfriends and burn down her parents' house. So I feel perfectly comfortable judging him actually.

You've just proved my point really. You know the bare facts, and I agree they're not pretty. But what do you know of his mental state when these things happened? Do you honestly know how you yourself might behave in moments of extreme personal anguish? Have you never done anything of which you are ashamed?

I'm not saying his actions weren't shameful, I'm saying I have no right to judge the person, and neither do you.

And none of that invalidates his views on sport.

I agree with your final point, I think he's a good pundit, but you don't have to like somebody to think they're good at their job. I'm aware of his problems with depression but I don't believe there is any excuse for the things he has done, and to answer your question, no I can't ever see myself behaving in that way.

Don't forget the U21s (with JWP) playing at Portman Road at 6 pm today (on BT Sport). Interview with the ubiquitous JWP on FA website (does anyone else get near the media) :). He said recently that he was interested in a second career in the media (not a surprise there).

Loved that Poland fan on Sky. Was asked if he feared Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney and if Poland could deal with them.

He replied with: "...but we have Artur Boruc... Holy goalie. He will save all England shots."
