    Next summer.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...as-they-prepare-luis-suarez-move-8878626.html

Obviously it ****s our season up if he goes in January, and we don't want to do another Carroll buy, but Madrid sound if they're getting desperate and this business can't go on forever. Besides which, either the Indy is making up what his friends are saying, or he and/or his capricious agent are STILL briefing the press, even after everything that's happened this summer.

Whatever, the press are determined he's going, and FSG have a laughable record of standing up to the English media, so, balancing the need to do whatever we can to get a CL place this season, maybe it's time to make the best deal possible?

  2. We should wait and see where we are in January. If, by some minor miracle, we are still in the top two, three or four then maybe Suarez will believe we can get Cl football next season and will want to stay. Big ask but the temptation would then be there.

I've pretty much said this since the summer, FSG done us proud playing hard ball in regards to Suarez last summer and should get credit for that IMO, let's see where were are in January and if we are in with a fighting chance of top 4 we should play hard ball again and keep him until the wc where no doubt his stock will go up even more and we could potentially be talking of a really silly fee in the ronaldo / bale scale.

bottom line for me is that the success of the club should come before money and even Suarez's feelings, so whatever is best for us as a club and at the moment I feel keeping Luis trumps any cash deal in Jan, but like you say if we have no chance of Cl football by January then I can see it being the best time to cash in.

  4. I didn't agree at first as I didn't think we would be close enough to the top four to tempt Luis to stay. However, nor did I expect us to have as good a start as we have had. I still don't think we will get top four, I'm sticking to my prediction of sixth place, but the start we've had gives us a great platform to be in a decent position come January which could be enough to tempt Suarez to stay. If that all happens then who knows, we may be able to push on again, maybe even go up another gear should we bring in one or two more quality additions in the winter window.

I'm far from getting carried away because I think there is a blip around the corner, but there is certainly optimism about the club ATM <ok>

There is a good chance he will be watching on telly like the rest of us mate, that won`t increase his price any.

  6. Not happening. They may not get a automatic qualification place but they'll get the playoff spot and play someone like Jordan <doh>

Jordan are the most likely opponants, are you saying there is no chance of an upset (baring in mind the way Uruguay played in the earlier group games).

  8. I've not seen any of their games (Uruguay or Jordan) but of course there could be an upset. However, you would have to be a bit crazy to bet on Jordan progressing from that tie.

Most certainly would not bet on it, just pointing out that Suarez appearance in the world cup is not nailed on.

There will always be speculation of top names leaving, Rooney is touted to leave United in Jan also.

Would be nice if we focussed on him actually doing his job rather than potentially leaving.

Think you're missing my point Bow. Either Suarez and/or his camp are leaking stories to the press, or for some reason the Independent (not exactly the Sun/Mirror/Mail) is deliberately ****-stirring - therefore Luis will come straight out and deny it.... :emoticon-0112-wonde

Whatever, the situation continues to fester, and unless we chronically **** our season up by doing it (and unless FSG grow balls and either take on the media and/or Guardiola - whoever is rolling this on and on) this isn't going away just by ignoring it. So if luis keeps banging them in until Jan, then great - he certainly isn't sulking as some feared. But go through it all again in January like we did in July and August? In the middle of the season?

I just hope FSG have got something up their sleeve, or they've got evidence on how guardiola illegally leaked the (wrong) details of clauses in Luis's contract back in the summer and are prepared to act on principle. Another saga in January could ruin our season. Stop it now or get rid.
