One of the few positives for me this season has been that after various defeats - both heavy thumpings (e.g. City) and heartbreaking defeats (e.g. Hull) we've managed to pick ourselves up and grind out some decent results in the next few days. For me that's the difference between a mediocre mid-table club like us, and a disaster zone like the Mackems. So while I fully expect us to get a complete spanking from Liverpool, I'm at least hopeful that it won't result in us not putting up a fight in the Derby. I wonder who should get the credit for keeping morale fairly steady? Pardew? Colo?

Aye -what I'm hoping for is that we put up a decent fight. Maybe go 2-0 down due to their attacking strength, but pull one back and give them a nervous last half hour. For me that would be a decent result - and set the lads up nicely with a hunger to win the Derby. We'll need it - I don't think our French legion quite gets the passion yet, whereas for the Mackems it's going to be like an entirely separate competition. Winning the Tyne-Wear doesn't matter much in the context of the league - but it's an achievement in itself, and possibly their only chance of one this season.

 

Think we could give Liverpool a scare, wasn't overly impressed with them against Sunderland.

Law of averages mean he'll get a goal sooner rather than later.

 

Has Pardew's moment of madness on Sunday turned you all into positive loons? I feel almost confident we'll give a good account of ourselves after reading the last few comments. Damn you all, whenever this happens I get brought back down to earth with a crushing 5 goal plus defeat and Benny Hill defensive work. P45 - Cisse scoring, now you are just being silly fella!

Or our silly kick offs where we lay it back to Cabaye or Tiote and they punt it out for a throw in by the opposition penalty area?

Hope it turns out OK but news is that Collo missed the Argentina match with a thigh injury. God forbid Willo is put up against Suarez & Sturridge, both small and quick.

 

You never know. I don't feel overly comfortable about our chances. It should be a good game though. There's a little bit of history there I've been up there a few times on business. The client in question is based in Boldon. Every one of the taxi drivers there and back from the station:

1. Hated Sunderland and intimated at inbreeding.
2. Seemed to have a soft spot for Liverpool.
3. Didn't like the mancs one bit.

I seriously don't understand this comment. Sakho is our strongest link in defence! His performances have been immense... Stats like 95% pass rate, 9/9 tackles won, 7/8 aerial duo's won etc etc
