I'm undecided as to my choice - given the 'slight' shock of todays news. However Scally has 'wasted' a lot of money on paying off managers in his time. It saddens me to say that it is the TEAM that, collectively is not good enough. I would have preferred some of this money to have been used to buy a little bit of real quality in the playing staff
Think it is about time someone in England gave Stephen Constantine a chance. Scally has already taken a gamble in sacking Allen, so why not go all out. He has a proven track record with clubs operating with little or no budget and is thought very highly of abroad. I really like what i have read about him, so he would be the man for the job in my opinion.
Bit gutted really. Thought MA was doing ok & would turn things around. Probably very unrealistic, but Dennis Wise for me. Don't think Peter Taylor is the best idea, but what do I know. Otherwise, would be happy to give Constantine a go.
Di Canio for entertainment Nigel Clough for young blood if he follows in his Dads footsteps, does he, not sure Constantine for doing it on no budget Please let's not do a Michael Palin and go full circle again.
As said before..... two decent midfielders wotever the manager Martin left the midfield very thin - we went backwards in that area Thanks for a fabulous season - you will never be forgotten
I would really like Aidy Boothroyd personally! Feel he was on his way to the top with Watford and a series of unfortunate events lead to his downfall, did well with a poor Northampton team changing them from relegation threatened to play off finalists. In all honesty I feel anyone who comes in is under huge pressure already due to the success and genuine likeability MA had. Personally I feel a few good results if he becomes caretaker and John Scofield could get it! Wouldn't mind Ian Hendon either!
If there was money I would like Paul Tisdale,as his Exeter Team plays some nice Football, and that's what the Team needs. His record is not too shabby either.I expect it will be Taylor, but im not sure he is the right man for the job.Whoever it is I will back them though.
Shame the supporters cant sack the chairman in cases like these. As for the new manager I think it will be PT going by the amount being said here and as the saying goes there is no smoke without fire so I believe there has to be some truth to the rumors.
What a mad state of affairs. Peter Taylor would be a disaster ...All he did was get TP's team promoted. May as well bring back Hess for the remainder of the season to steady the ship Imo
How long was Mad Dog your manager for? What was the state of the team when he took over? I know he got you promotion, but was that because you were the best of an average league, or was it because you really were that good and it was down to MA? Genuine questions.
Whilst I dont actually want Taylor back (I am never go back sort of person), that is an awful description of Peter Taylors season in charge, He took what I agree was a good league 1 team and made it play much better football, he did it without Asaba for most of the season and despite losing Super Bob after just 3 months of the season at a time when he was having the most purple patch it has ever been my pleasure to observe, in addition to winning the play off final we beat Bradford and Sheff Wed (both in the premier league at the time) and we got to Stamford Bridge for an FA Cup quarter final, which was almost as good a day out as a trip to Wembley (despite the result), he deserves his place in the history of our club just as much as Martin Allen does and I would rather watch Peters team play than Martins every day of the week.
