Which one did you read? For me Red Dragon was comfortably the best and the series deteriorated as it went on.

Funnily enough, I think it was Hannibal, as I'd already seen the other two in film versions, so thought I'd read the book before watching the film but wished I hadn't bothered.

Just re-watched Taxi Driver (though it was really in the background as I have been on here). Fantastic.

Another one of my favourites but not particularly well received by the critics at the time:

A Perfect World - Directed by Clint Eastwood who also has a part in it but Kevin Costner plays the main character.

That's just reminded me of a few more Costner films:

Bull Durham - with excellent support from Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon
    Field of Dreams
    JFK

    Ice cold in Alex
    Vanishing Point
    Soylent Green
    Raging Bull
    An American Gangster
    Saving Private Ryan
    High Noon
    Schindlers list
    The longest day.
    The Shawshank Redempton.

I do have an interest in DDay and this is sort of reflected in my choices.

    Neither have I.

I tell you what really pisses me right off.
You arrive on time at the pictures, take your seat and then they give you 20 ****ing minutes of advertising future films. They show all the best bits and i think to myself. "**** it i've seen the best bits"

If I like an actor I dont tend to see them doing a bad film (I know in reality that is bollocks) but thats me.
    So,
    Tom Hanks
    Morgan Freeman
    Harrison Ford
    Robin Williams
    Eddie Murphy
Will Smith.....Pursuit of Happiness he was brilliant
    Jim Carrey
    Steve Carrell
    Will Ferrell
    Kevin James...fat guy in Hitch
    Sally Field
    Charlize Theron
    Halle Berry
    Cameron Diaz

    More to follow.

Coming in late to this thread, I haven't read all the choices. The ones I have read, have given me some food for thought on films that I have never seen or seen long ago, forgotten and now want to see again. Anyway, my 10 (well more than 10, there are 2 trilogies) in no particular order. Like others have said, this list changes regularly depending on mood, random influences.

    Blade Runner
The Dark Knight Trilogy (but mostly, The Dark Knight)
    V for Vendetta
    Paprika
    Excalibur
    The Princess Bride
The Lord of The Rings Trilogy
    2001 A Space Odyssey
Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo
    American Beauty

I bet everyone over 40 has watched this as a kid and loved it. Great boys own adventure. Ray Mears quotes this film as a major influence on his life. Still a good watch now

I can't believe people are putting Will Ferrell and Jim Carey in their top actors lists, I can't stand either of them in anything.

Defiance is a great film for anyone who hasn't seen it, Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber play two brothers in WW2.

Another Craig film worth a watch is Layer Cake.

How about "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" written and directed by Mark Herman (a City fan)?

Not seen that, will keep an eye out for it though now. It's not a chick flick is it?

It couldn't be less of a chick flick, it's about gassing jews, it's very much in the mould of Schindler's List.

It says it all about someone who would actually watch something like that. Disgusting. Just like someone who finds a joke amusing.
