Red Bull want to buy a Premier league club to take to the Champions League. Would you want them as owners of NUFC?

What would the implications be? Could we have appeal to them?

We have an owner that no longer wants to put his own money in to the club and doesn't want us to take the cup competitions seriously...pretty much any new owner would be a upgrade.

If they want to take a club to the champions league they'll be looking at us, Everton and maybe Villa as we are the biggest three clubs not currently challenging for the champions league places.

To be fair there is argument for saying us and Everton are the two most viable options for anyone interested in buying a prem club as the following clubs either have new owners, are profitable for their current owner or an owner that has ambition and is unwilling to sell...

Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Spurs, Southampton, Fulham, Cardiff, Swansea, Sunderland, West Ham, Stoke and Hull all fall in to the above category.

Only leaves us, Everton, Villa, Palace, Norwich and West Brom. Surely we'd be one of the most attractive out of them?

    I'd welcome that.
RedBull usually excel in every field they are involved in.

Out of interest where have they said that they're interested in buying a club?

What you should notice is the number of clubs in the above list which investors have backed instead of us... Why? Because we're geographically screwed unless we get one of our ex players on a power trip to advise a consortium who knows f*** all about the league (see Sunderland), so we can lie and say the North East is "happening". Palace would be a much better choice for a Red Bull Franchise drive, they even have decent club colours for it, but it would have to have happened before the season started... Kinda no point now.

Why do we have the foundations for a champions league team? Because we have a big stadium? Well we can't go over a threshold in ticket sale price because the local community is relatively poor. The further down the country you go, the more you can extract for FFP etc, and London is the affluent fan-boy capital of the world. You can build a new stadium 25 miles away from the current one, charge the suits a billion pounds for a season ticket and hundreds for a hot dog, and you'll have the actual makings of a champions league team. You don't need a team with history or credentials on the world stage at all, because once you pump money in the cretin glory supporters come out to play.

    Ideally London.
That means a Palace, West Ham, Fulham type.

Probably, though CL for that crowd? At least we've been in it.

If I were a betting man, I'd go Everton. They'll be a lot cheaper than NUFC, have a lot of areas they can build a new stadium in and currently have the foundations for success. Also have a chairman who'd snap your hand off. Ours would open (and thus instantly close) the bidding at a billion.

Every team they own has incorporated "Red Bull" in to their name.

We'd almost definitely have our name changed to Newcastle Red Bulls which isn't going to go down well so not so sure that this would be a good takeover for us (not that it's even remotely likely anyway).

They'll want to be in the capital as others have noted. I'd have no problem with it, just the way of the world.

Lets hope it happens and it gives us wings to fly up the league......................I'll not even bother to get my coat, I deserve to freeze for that one

I see it as being a bit like the SJP naming thing.
As long as the team was doing well it wouldn't get to me too much.

Red Bull would be fantastic owners, we could have 2.30am kick offs and still be wide awake to watch it.

The only thing that made me think about it was because of our illustrious owners' commercial "strategy" of renaming everything in, around and including the ground. I wonder if Mike Ashley would consider taking the club out of private ownership and issueing shares for sale instead? Gets him around the issue of Rangers FC, also means he didn't lie (per se) about not "selling" the club.

Red Bull would be a fantastic coup for most Premier league clubs. As ACS stated, they do tend to excel in most projects they get involved in, at the moment they already have about 4 or 5 clubs across Europe including the Austrian champions.

With it 'ideally' being London, I think West Ham have a good history and with moving to the new massive stadium, you could say they have a lot of potential there.

Ahh I forgot about the Olympic Stadium. I'd say it was West Ham as front runners then IMHO.
