Well if you had been the big star and then barely played I don't suppose MP would be top of your xmas card list!

While I normally take rumours with a pinch of salt, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

We have a guy who came along with a huge profile, expected to be a shoo-in for the first team and who is now relegated to sitting on the bench (at best). We're moving on and he's no longer the biggest fish in the pond.

I speak as somebody who desperately wanted (and wants) him to succeed but I do get the impression that there's a lack of determination there that can't fit in with the way we play. In defence of the inevitable (and justified) attack to come, that's based on a few minutes of play on the pitch this season and his body language every time I've seen him - not scientific, just an impression. On that flimsy basis, he looks to me very much like he can't be bothered.

If my reading is right then I wouldn't be surprised if he was falling out with MP. I get the impression that MP would demand total dedication.

That's not a surprise. He'd (allegedly) been promised when he joined that the team would be built around him. Unfortunately he wasn't great in his first season (still, wasn't bad) and as such didn't warrant that, and is now clearly not an important part of the side. I wouldn't be remotely shocked to see him flogged in January at a small loss.

Our tactics only work if the 11 on the pitch are working there socks off, Ramirez isnt that type of player, would think he'll be off in January alteast on loan as he will want to be playing before the world cup

Ramirez just doesn't suit our style...less ostensibly talented players who buy into Mauricio's system and work their socks off are more useful to us. Perhaps MP is frustrated by Gaston's attitude (pure speculation by the way) and has shown this frustration to Gaston. Like Onionman, I really wanted Gaston to be a success here, but suspect that he will never buy into the hard work ethic demanded by Mauricio. He may feel that he is a very talented player and has not been given the chance to shine...perhaps it is not just Mauricio...perhaps he just isn't suited to the PL.

I think it could be a blessing in disguise for Ramirez having to deal with pochettino's high possession style. If he can choose the right time to dribble lossely and attack the opposition and the right time to just keep the ball he would be so much more effective and I thought that was the biggest weakness in his game last season. He clearly has the requisite talent to keep the ball but I think his direct high tempo way of playing wasn't in tune with the teams. It was more than that though Ramirez consistently made bad decisions, and this season he has been looking to do things that weren't on.

I can't see pochettino doing anything to specially help out ramirez and unfortunately I think Ramirez needs quite a lot of assistance. Ideally to be playing regularly so he can fully understand the different style and develop better decision making skills. That said a couple of injuries and he's back in it. Or even better he plays way into the managers thoughts, I doubt that's going to happen though.

I think that most of our players bought into the new system because they could see that it worked even as early as the Everton game and it has made them better players. Most are not top top players, but they do have the requisite abilities for Mauricio's style: talent, youth, fitness and a willingness to learn from someone they admire. Maurico did say that he watched videos of Saints before he took the job and knew that we had players capable of playing his way. Lallana has already said that MP has an aura about him, so he found a willing audience. Ramirez may have just found himself on the outside...he missed a lot of preseason, he may feel he is more talented than the other players (i.e. the star), and wasn't willing to put in the effort (as he could do well at other clubs without doing so.)

We're one or two injuries away from Gaston starting every week. He'll be going nowhere unless a replacement is bagged first.

I think FLT has regularly stated that Gaston's footballing brain was always ahead of those he was playing with and that time would be the biggest factor in his settling in. I still agree with that in the main (although I feel that poor execution and decision making are also factors) but he won't help himself by failing to put in the graft when he's out of favour.

I can definitely see ramirez thinking he is better than his team mates as I think he is actually better, I really hope this hasn't given him a sense of entitlement and a belief that he doesn't need to work as hard.

Thevman who is right every time I have seen his posts on sainstweb just wrote:
"I think he went and saw MP the week of the Swansea game asking that he needed to be playing more, but how this came out to MP i don't know but he found himself out of the match day squad," and followed it up with:

"Pochs attitude is more than likely that you have to earn your place and that gaston needs to work a little harder for that place (post by MrX)"
That's exactly how i saw it,MP seems to be a man that wont be taken for a ride too easily. You put the work in and you get the rewards for it.

Its not looking good for ramirez. Although its quite likely poch sending him a message rather than ostracising him from the team. If ramirez responds well he will get his rewards.

It was a big shame that the career threatening injury hit him at an important part of last season, don't know if that still is having any effect. If you look at the training galleries he always seem to be participating with a smile on his face, probably just needs a decent run in the side to get back up to speed, but there isn't any room for anyone giving less than 100% even if you aren't the best that we have got.

This is a squad based game, where we don't have a big squad and like others have pointed out he could be in the starting line up with a few injuries. To have a problem like this is good because the rest of the players in the squad like Lallana have to up their game, we need a competitive squad. He still a young player and can adapt. I've seen him play on a few occasion tracking back to win the ball and then going on a counter attack. He has potential so lets hope he can improve and show us all what a great player he could be!

I don't think he will be going anywhere soon as NC doesn't like selling anyone of a discounted price!

So if this is true. It makes him speeding off in his car before the last game more interesting.

If (IF) he spoke to Mauricio about needing more game time, he could have done it in one of two ways...positively, by asking how he could achieve it or negatively, by demanding that he get game time. Being dropped from the bench (for the first time when not injured) suggests the latter. Mauricio is not a pussy cat...when recently asked about how he keeps players happy if they are not being played, he said that the players job was to train and be available...it was his job as the manager to pick the team.
