Always interesting, here the ones that spring to mind: Shawshank Redemption Gladiator The Usual Suspects Transformers (the 1985 cartoon, not the modern crap) The Lives of Others Rollerball (the 70s original, not the new one) Leon Fight Club Requiem for a Dream Sin City
One film out later this year that many won't go and see is Saving Mr Banks. Saw it at a screener the other week and thought it was fantastic. It's a backstory to Mary Poppins with Tom Hanks playing Walt Disney. Definitely recommend sticking your neck out there and trying something different. Would easily make a top 50 for me, possibly top 20.
Another one I just thought of: Manhunter - far superior imo than the bigger budget Silence of the Lambs.
i've studied silence of the lambs purely because of the editing involved manhunter is a great film though i also forgot american psycho, another of my favourites! the film that made christian bale
1. Scarface 2. Spinal Tap 3. the Jerk 4. The godfather 5. Kez 6. Bob Sue and Rita too 7. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels 8. Gladiator 9. Clockwork Orange 10. Lock Stock and Two smoking barrels
I can never listen to Huey Lewis And The News in the same way again. It feels weird watching him in this after seeing him as Bruce Wayne...
Hey, nothing wrong with Silence of the Lambs, a very good thriller but for me I just think Manhunter is a different class, just so much more texture to it.
Try watching this as if it is Bruce Wayne... it makes Batman seem a lot different... (Best thing about this scene - he runs down the hallway naked... apart from his Nike trainers)
At least we got there eventually. But you forgot to mention: Star Wars Ep. I Star Wars Ep. II Star Wars Ep. III
watching, django for the first time since the 'date' back in may it's such an unreal film and powerful too for many reasons! its in my top 5 no doubt! you should make a tv series thread next macca!
My bad. I genuinely think people decided they wouldn't like the newer ones before they came out. I've never heard a single valid explanation of what people don't like about them. All I've been told is that "Jar Jar is annoying." and "Anakin as a child is annoying." Wtf?
To be fair, the prequels aren't very good, not just because of the expectation around them. Only Revenge Of The Sith is of any real quality imo. It's the same with Indiana Jones. I still consider that to be only a trilogy because in my mind the 4th film doesn't exist...
And another I really can't believe I forgot: Dances with Wolves I think I better go to bed this is driving me nuts!
