MCD has had a week to scour the divisions for his much publicised loaners to ignite our season. Backed by the ever optimistic smiley salad and the crew, this could be a historic week for Leeds. Wingers and strikers on the way. Only question is how many, two, three or maybe four even. A mouth watering prospect
Anyone watching Soccer AM? The actor Michael Rooker who acts in The Walking dead picked Leeds United out of the hat and now has to support us for life...........
I am. Delighted England will be there. Two weeks laughing my arse off, firstly at Sky bullshitting about going to win the World Cup, followed by the enquiries when England lose another penalty shoot out to Germany after pissing themselves with nerves followed by the inevitable manager being sacked. A few pictures of lager louts thrown in for good measure during the fortnight.Roll on June Glory
A) None or B) One who is the wrong side of 30 and we have to Wiki them to find out their history or C) One player who is the wrong side of 30 currently playing for Portsmouth
or (d) a crock we've written off. but now reappears in articles all over the place threatening all sorts of goal scoring feats a la Somma, and will no doubt be greeted as a terrific new signing by all and sundry when it happens
well if that's how you look at it Eire your country might as well scrap all sport. We on the other hand will enjoy watching lots of football until we get knocked out in the last 16,8 or 4.Your a bit obsessed with England though we wouldn't give a f--k how Eire went on if the roles were reversed.
Foot ball is only about the fourth sport in Ireland, so qualification for the World Cup doesn't excite us as much as you guys. Judging by the comments I see on forums, there isn't a whole lot of interest in the England national team either
Well if my in-laws are anything to go by then I'd have to question that. They like a bit of gaelic football but go crazy for football as well (or soccer as they call it) and my brothers-in-law regularly come over to Liverpool for matches, even following Liverpool in Europe (back in the days when Liverpool qualified for europe). It's a fact that Gaelic Football and hurling are the most popular spectator sports but it is also a fact that soccer is currently the biggest participation sport in Ireland. I'm guessing the reason why soccer is not such a popular spectator sport is that Irish soccer teams are crap, which explains why nearly everyone in Ireland supports an English team (we have evidence of that on this board ). And on the subject of World Cup qualification, don't tell me the Irish don't care about qualifying for the World Cup because I've seen it first hand, in fact my missus gets very excited
Footie is big mainly in the built up city areas but GAA is far bigger across the country and serves communities very well. Typical viewer audiences for all Ireland finals top 1million. There are loads of us who follow clubs in England passionately and spend a fortune doing it, I'm one. To be honest if I got a free trip to watch the national team, I couldn't be bothered and the paltry numbers of fans England brought to the euros suggest they'd feel the same
The van was a great film, about Ireland at italia 90. I'm sure there are other sports more popular over there than football, but I bet their press don't go overboard like the stupid english press do at every tounament.
Fecking hell, what's all this anti Irish bollox. I think any Irish born person has a fecking right to support an English team if he wants. FFS Ireland was once part of the British empire and many Irishmen died fighting for the cause. It's also fecking easy to support a club on your own doorstep and many locals have turned their backs on the club, where as us thick micks keep travelling over.
Lighten up m8,its not anti Irish bollox its banter.Eire never misses a chance to have a dig at England. If you give it out you have to expect some back.
